Janice A. “Jan” Koster Brummett, 75, of Delphi, passed away Saturday-February 28, 2026, at 1:47pm, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. Jan was born on November 1, 1950, in Jasper County, to the late John & Ruby Myers Koster. She married Michael R. Brummett at Duncan Chapel in Crestwood, KY, on August 27, 1978, and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2026. Jan graduated from Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield and received her associate degree in accounting from Ivy Tech. Jan worked at Bradshaw Insurance Agency in Delphi for many years, then at MBAH Insurance in Lafayette, excelling in long-term care products. She and Mike were members of the Delphi Methodist Church. Jan enjoyed gardening, crossword and word search puzzles, Big Ten sports, and loved to travel, especially on trips out West to go snowmobiling. She loved the beauty of the mountains and just being outdoors. Jan was also an incredible seamstress, making many things for her family, including beloved quilts out of her grandchildren’s athletic T’s, costumes and high school memorabilia. She gave these handmade keepsakes as graduation gifts. She and Mike attended many of their grandchildren’s school functions. Family was everything to Jan. She dearly loved them all. Surviving: daughter-Tonya & William “Bill” Chastain of Huntertown, grandchildren-Chandler Chastain & Jamie Grabner, Caitlyn & Ryan Olson, Caroline Chastain & Austin Brandenberger, Holten Raider, Landry Raider, great granddaughter-Sutton Olson, son in law-David Raider, sister-Connie Flick of Monticello, sister-Jennifer & Kenny DeKock of Wheatfield, sister in law-Susie Koster of Wheatfield, sister in law-Deb & Terry Corso of Chalmers, brother in laws-Rex & Bonnie Brummett of Brookston, Mark Brummett of Brookston, & Rick & Judi Brummett of Brookston. Preceded in death by a son Christopher Brummett, daughter Terri Raider, brother Jerry Koster. Services: Visitation will be Friday-March 6, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service there Saturday at 11am, Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg. I only came to know Jan very, very recently, but she very quickly grabbed a piece of my heart in that beautiful way that only she could!
Tonya and Bill, you have loved her so very wonderfully through some very difficult days! May God carry you and your family so very tenderly!
