Janice McDiarmid Povio was born on December 30, 1940, in Corby, England and passed away on December 18, 2024, after a lengthy illness. Janice was a wee, strong-willed Scottish woman who was a true fighter. She battled cancer for over 15 years.
Janice is survived by her husband of 60 years Vince, her sons Nicholas and Scott, and the light of her life, her one and only grandson, Bradley. She is also survived by her sister Carole (Michael) Hector, her sister-in-law Marie Aceves, brothers-in-law Nicholas (Hootie) Povio, Stephan (Amy) Povio and sister-in-law Tess (Curtis) Sloan, and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents Peggy and Sidney McDiarmid, both from the United Kingdom.
Janice touched the lives of everyone she met. She was an amazing mother, nana, wife, aunt and friend, and she was a remarkable woman. Her infectious smile and positive energy had a way of uplifting everyone around her. She was the ray of sunshine in every room she entered, and had a big heart for others. Her house and her home were always open to everyone who visited, and she treated everyone with respect, kindness, compassion and unconditional love.
Janice was a rare gem, a true friend and a bright light in everyone’s lives. She had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh without even trying. She was a true legend and her mischievous wit will always live on in our memories, and we truly consider it a privilege and an honor to have had her in our lives. Her absence will leave a void that can never be filled, and losing her is painful for her family and friends, but her legacy of love and courage will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Janice always said she wanted a party when she passed away, and she will get a party! A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

I always enjoyed running into Jan when walking around the neighborhood or visiting with neighbors on her porch in Village Green. She always had a twinkle and a bright smile.
