Janice's Obituary

Janice Lee McCracken Bullock Wren of Somerset, KY passed from this life on January 5, 2026 at the age of 84 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital, Mt. Vernon, KY.

Jan was born October 26, 1941 in Allais, Kentucky, the oldest of three daughters, to Roy Thomas McCracken and Margaret Morris McCracken. After losing her mother at a young age and consequently spending time in a Buckhorn, KY orphanage, she petitioned the orphanage administration to allow her to transfer to the Berea Foundation School in Berea, KY where she met and married Johnny B. Bullock. She and John enjoyed a rich and fruitful farm life, where they birthed and raised three children until John preceded her in death in 2004 after 44 years of marriage. In 2007, she married G. Jackson “Jack” Wren and moved to Hearne, TX where she joined him in his ministry as a Southern Baptist Minister until his death in 2022. She spent her remaining years enjoying the company of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life and legacy was in service to Christ whom she served faithfully for all her adult life. All who loved her and lived life with her learned not to underestimate the determination and resiliency of a mountain woman, no matter how quiet, polite, and diminutive.

Jan was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Jeanine Welch and Virginia Orner.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she shared with John; children, Mike Bullock (Robin) of Somerset, KY, Leah Anne Jasper (Tony) of Nancy, KY, and Mark Bullock (Joy), of Somerset, KY, grandchildren, Erin Wesley (CJ), Drew Bullock (Ariel), Holly Molen (Jordan), Mollie Stout (Evan), great-grandchildren, Payton Wesley, Charlie Wesley, Knox Wesley, Cora Lesyk, Brooks Molen, and Walker Stout.

She is also survived by step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren she shared with Jack; step-children, William Wren of Kentucky, Pamela Hill (Don) of Kentucky, Edward Wren (Sherri) of TX, Patrick Wren (Joy) of TX, Karen Childress of Berea, KY, Amy White (Shawn) of TX, and Gail Burleson (Philip) of TX, step-grandchildren, Sadie Wren, Daniel Wren, Eric Wren, Mark Wren, Matthew Wren, Erin Castillo, Lance Wren, Jared Wren, Hunter Wren, Jamie Clifford, Justin Childress, Emily White, Madelyn White, Wesley White, Lucy Beth White, Caleb Burleson, Cody Burleson, Reese Burleson and Blake Burleson.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, Somerset, KY, with Reverend Bill Fort officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
