I have had the luxury of being around Mr Rutland since I arrived at Bradwell, I was scared, and vulnerable and I was thrown into a place that I was not comfortable in.
He has helped shaped me into the young adult that I am today. He helped push me to the goals that I needed to accomplish and always greeted me every time I see him and he would check up occasionally on me because he knew the issues that I had begun to struggle with and he was one of the only people who would sit and listen, regardless on what he has going on in his personal life he never let what he had going on affect those around him and his ability to be another child's safe space or someone to just sit and have the company with. He was always willing to help anyone if they asked and if he couldn't help for some reason he would be able to find someone who could.

He never made me dread walking into bradwell like how a lot of teachers I've had in the past did. My heartfelt condolences is being extended to absolutely everyone.
And he will be missed,
His absence is felt by so many people which is gut wrenching and heart shattering .
The legacy and mark that he left on students and bradwell as whole will truly be remembered.

Mr. Rutland was a teacher loved and respected by students, teachers, and staff. I often talked to him daily about math of course, but he would also be willing to entertain any topic, from fishing to AI. I’ll greatly miss those conversations. My prayers go out to his Family.

I've only had Mr. Rutland for the start of this current 2nd semester and this time was cut too short. I always heard good things about him from his former/current students. In his class, he really knew how to break the math down to where can understand it, and never shamed you for needing help. I thank God for the few weeks I did have with him and my prayers go out to his family.

Mr Rutland was an amazing teacher he was always easy going and just a genuine laid back teacher. He really was a huge impact towards Bradwell and everyone who knew him. I don't think that theres ever gonna be another teacher or person like him ever again, he truly touched peoples soul and helped many many students. Its very sad to see myself having to do this because I never would've thought of him passing at such a young age.

Man, he is my teacher for college readiness math. Even though I only had him for 17 days now, it was clear that he actually cared about his students. He was so chill and funny and he made the classroom feel calm and welcoming. I'm sad to hear he is no longer with us, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un

I remember having Mr Rutland for geometry my sophomore year. When I walked into the class I could tell from the jump he was going to be a great teacher. For once In my life I actually had an A+ in math class knowing math is my biggest struggle. I was willing to stay after school tutoring with him because he motivated me to want to try, and I felt so comfortable talking to him knowing he wouldn’t judge me even if I didn’t know simple math. He was patient and always had a smile on his face. I will forever remember Mr Rutland as a close friend and a teacher. There’s so many memories that will never be forgotten.

Mr. Rutland was my Geometry teacher in 10th grade. He was one of the few teachers who made sure to stay with me whenever I fell behind and made sure I understood the material before putting more work on me. He was funny, kind, and creative with how he taught his class. You could tell he really loved his career. I was more than grateful for him and it pains me to know he has passed away. I send my respects to the family and hope they know how much impact he had on his students.

He was my algebra teacher my entire 9th grade year. He was an awesome, chill teacher. He cared deeply about all of the students he came across and I always observed that. He had a good sense of humor and was always himself. The way he taught was engaging and fun and I am grateful to have had an amazing teacher like Mr. Rutland. When I graduated, I never got the chance to thank him, and it pains me to know I will never be able to. I pray for Mr. Rutland and his family as they grieve the loss of an amazing person. Rest easy Mr. Rutland, you will be deeply missed by everyone who got to know you.

Mr. Rutland was one of those teachers you never forget. I had him during my 10th grade year, and from the very beginning, he made his classroom feel welcoming, comfortable, and real. He wasn’t just there to teach a subject — he cared about us as people. He always found a way to make lessons engaging, whether it was through hands-on work, real-life examples, or just his natural ability to explain things in a way that made sense. On top of that, he was genuinely funny. His jokes, comments, and quick sense of humor could turn even a stressful day into a better one, and his class was always a place where you could laugh and still learn.

One of my favorite memories will always be how we talked about his really cool shoe collection. He wore some of the best shoes, and it was something students actually looked forward to — seeing what pair he’d show up in and joking with him about it. Those small moments meant a lot because they showed how down-to-earth he was and how easily he connected with his students. Mr. Rutland taught us more than academics; he taught us about patience, craftsmanship, pride in our work, and being a good person. I’m truly grateful I had the chance to be his student. He made a lasting impact on my life, and I’ll always remember him with respect, appreciation, and a smile. Rest in peace, Mr. Rutland. You will never be forgotten

Mr.Rutland was the best teacher I could ever ask for he made a huge impact on my life. He was the only teacher who could have made me open up about how my day was going, we talked about my plan in life, he showed me new games, old school cars, sneakers he was thinking about getting. Mr.Rutland made a huge difference in my school life and put a smile on everyone’s face whenever they came around heaven gained a great angel

Mr. Rutland was a very sweet and generous man, always doing good no matter what. There’s nothing bad anyone could ever say about him. During my tenth grade year he always helped me with math and when I was feeling down he’d let me talk to him. Rip such a sweet and caring soul

Mr Rutland was pure sunshine. Sweetest teacher I knew. I had him my 9th grade year and I continued to talk to him until my 12th grade year. I had spoken to him on Friday. He put a smile on everyone’s face and made us feel very safe around him. He doesn’t even know how many lives he’s impacted. He doesn’t know how many smiles and laughs he’s let out of people. He might not be apart of my or anyone else’s family— But he felt like everyones family member at heart. I send my deepest condolences to his family and closest friends and I hope they can continue on and raise up his legacy. long live Mr. Rutland and may you enjoy your new life in paradise!!

Mr. Rutland was my teacher in 2024, and his wife was one of my teachers in middle school. Mr. Rutland was one of the most influential teachers at Bradwell Institute. He never prioritized himself over his students and always ensured they were ok, not just doing his assignments like some teachers. Mr. Rutland always had a good attitude and I could always count on him to be a friendly face in the halls. He will truly be missed and his impact on our lives will not be forgotten.
