On Sunday, December 21, 2025, Jeanne Macey passed away at home, surrounded by family. After a courageous journey through illness, she has been welcomed into eternal peace.
Born in Springfield on September 18, 1966, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Gerald and Marion (Mercier) Loughman who were from Longmeadow. She is predeceased by her sister, Anne Lizak (wife of Paul Lizak of Ludlow); her niece, Sarah Lizak; and her son, Justin Macey.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Christopher J. Macey, her children, Abigail Cunningham and her fiancé Connor Roberge of Montague, Michelle Macey Welch and her husband Scott Welch of Chicopee, her grandchildren, Phoenix, Oliver, and Aurora, her older siblings, Maura and Arthur Loughman Bull of Chatham NY, Robert and Maryanne Loughman of East Longmeadow, Christopher and Kathy Loughman of East Longmeadow, John Loughman and his partner Denise Lynch of Chicopee, many nieces and nephews whom she cherished and beloved members of the Macey family of Agawam.
Jeanne spent much of her career as a PCA and hospice caretaker throughout Western Massachusetts. A very honorable mention must be made of her devoted personal care of her (step)son, Justin Macey (October 1995 – January 2020), who endured a traumatic injury in infancy. Her last words were “I’ve got Justin.” - a comforting sentiment in a dark time. Few possess the compassion and strength required to care for individuals with disabilities; Jeanne was one of those rare souls. She truly was an earthside angel.
Despite the cruelties of cancer, Jeanne fought her battle with grit, grace, and determination. Her hope never waned. She will be most remembered for her vivacious spirit, quirky sense of humor, home-cooked meals, and the endless love she gave to her friends and family. She was a light in the lives of all who knew her, and that light will never fade.
Her favorite place was the beach. She often vacationed on White Horse Beach in Plymouth, Massachusetts with family. Now she is free to enjoy the sun, the sand and the waves whenever her heart desires.
A special thank you to the staff at the D’Amour Center for Cancer Care and Baystate VNA Hospice Services for their compassionate care of Jeanne. A Celebration of Life will be held at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Massachusetts Citizens for Children at masskids.org or the American Cancer Society at cancer.org
