Jeffery "Jeff" Ehmke, beloved husband, father, grandpa, and friend, passed away on his terms; peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. Jeff was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served honorably as a Green Beret, demonstrating courage and dedication to his country.
Born with a zest for life and a personality larger than life itself, Jeff was known for his straightforwardness and remarkable ability to tell it like it was. His generosity and loyalty knew no bounds; he was a cherished figure in his community and beyond.
An avid skier and golfer, Jeff found joy in the great outdoors. He was passionate about skiing, teaching his family the ropes on the slopes of Sunburst where he was an instructor, and cherished their annual ski trips out West. These moments, full of laughter and adventure, were some of his happiest. Jeff was also a dedicated football coach, influencing many young lives with his wisdom and spirit. He loved spending lively afternoons with his family, creating lasting memories.
Above all, Jeff adored his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Peggy, with whom he shared the deepest love and partnership. He was a heroic and playful father to his children, Reed (Ashley), Annie (Jeff), and Erin (Thomas), all of whom he instilled strength, kindness, and a dash of his unmistakable humor. He enjoyed every moment with his grandchildren, Adam, Cooper, Quinn, Lakelynn, Beckett, and Colette. He is further survived by his brothers Paul (Judy) and Jim (Karen), nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jeff's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. He leaves behind a community grateful for his service, his friendship, and his boundless capacity to give. His family will continue to honor his memory by living their lives with the same integrity and joy he did. A celebration of life will be held at Café Hollander in Mequon (5900 W Mequon Rd, Mequon, WI 53092), on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warriors Foundation, an organization close to Jeff's heart.
Jeff's life was a beautiful journey, and though he will be missed, his spirit will forever guide us.

Peggy and family, I am so sorry that this note is so late. It was not until yesterday that I learned of Jeff's passing. Jeff and I worked together and shared many time talking about our families. Jeff was always so kind to ask about my son knowing of his struggles. I will always appreciate all his support and kindness.

Jeff was an unforgettable part of our early adult adventures. His athletic feats were so impressive, and he was a considerate and fun-loving part of the group. Our sincere sympathy to Peggy and the extended family, and to our special friend Patti, the sister-in-law who adored him as well.
