SCARBOROUGH - Jeffrey Michael Barker passed away on October 4, 2022 at the Maine Medical Center after a brief illness.
Jeff was born on August 23, 1968. He was a lifelong resident of Scarborough and spent most of his life in the Pine Point area. He graduated from Scarborough High School in 1986.
Growing up in Pine Point, Jeff was exposed to many family and friends that loved to cook, especially seafood. This started Jeff’s love for cooking. Throughout his life, he worked in the food service business and started this journey at the Clambake Restaurant. This is also where he met his lifelong friends. Jeff continued this journey and briefly owned and operated Chowderheads Restaurant before he became a kitchen manager for many years at Portland Pie Company.
Jeff’s favorite pastime was going to concerts. There wasn’t a rock concert that came to the Portland area that Jeff wouldn’t go to. He would always bring his friends and family to the concerts and would see his favorite bands many times.
Jeff was also an avid sports fan. His favorite team in all sports was the Miami Dolphins. Being a true Dolphin fan, he always had hopes to see them in the Super Bowl. There wasn’t a Red Sox game that Jeff wouldn’t listen to on the radio. He much preferred listening on the radio opposed to watching on t.v. He later picked up following the English Premier League Soccer. Jeff loved to follow these teams and just talk about sports with his brother Tim. Jeff also loved to spend time with his brother Scott and they would find a quiet place to hang out and talk and listen to music.
Later in life, Jeff found personal peace by becoming an Ordained Minister. He loved finding quiet and peaceful time at his favorite places in Pine Point at the beach or just sitting in his car at the Coop parking lot reading his Bible.
Jeff is predeceased by his father Michael John Barker, mother Judith Ann (Carter) Barker. Jeff is survived by his sons Nicholas and Bodie Barker and their mother Tami; his brother Tim and his wife Elizabeth and their sons Colin and Owen; Scott and his son Ethan and daughter Sienna and Scott’s partner Michelle, several cousins and Jeff’s closest friends Dewey and Kim Kolvek.
There will be a private graveside ceremony at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery and a celebration of life on November 5, 2022.
Jeff will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him. Now, he has joined those amongst the stars so that he can shine brightly in the night sky and watch over those that he loved; and for us to look up and see him shining above. A brother, father, uncle, and friend can never be parted as Jeff’s precious memories will forever live with us.

I am blessed to a have grown up with Jeff, and have many fond memories of times spent with our Grandparents; Ken and Marilyn Carter, and several trips in the "Winnie". Jeff had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who loved Jeff.
