Jeffrey F. Goss, 64
“King of Lunenburg Street”
Fitchburg-Jeffrey F. Goss, 64, a lifelong resident of Fitchburg, died Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home.
Jeffrey was born in Fitchburg on November 14, 1954, a son of Frances H. (Ryan) Goss and the late Edward Goss.
Besides his mother, Jeffrey is survived by eight siblings, Carol Goss of Fitchburg, Donna Dion of Oceanside, CA, Edward Goss of Fitchburg, Alyce Rhodes of Las Vegas, NV, Richard Goss of Fitchburg, Elizabeth A Goss of Leominster, Nancy Robson of Michigan and Allyson Goss of Fitchburg; and many nieces and nephews. Jeffrey was predeceased by three brothers, James, Mark and Gerald Goss.
Shortly after birth Jeffrey was diagnosed with spinal meningitis. He lived his first three years of life at Boston Children’s Hospital. Jeffrey’s condition at the time was considered fatal, but he defied the odds and returned home shortly after his third birthday. Jeffrey was truly an angel on earth. He only knew love, laughter and happiness. He did not understand anger or hate. He was loved by all who knew him. He was quite popular with his many neighbors on Day St., as well as with the Police and Fire Department. In 1994 The Sentinel and Enterprise published a story on Jeffery and dubbed him “The King of Lunenburg Street” as he helped and was helped by so many in that neighborhood. Jeffrey coveted that position for over 30 years. Lunenburg Street and the businesses on Lunenburg St were his second family.
When he was younger Jeffrey attended Goodrich St. School and eventually the Rollstone School. When he was older, he could often be found riding his bike throughout the streets of Fitchburg and took great joy in his trips to Market Basket. He also loved spending time at Coggshall Park, Fitchburg. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family at the many family barbeques.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 1:00pm at the South Fitchburg Social Club located at 47 Duck Mill Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Refreshments will be served. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Dr., Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St. Fitchburg, has been entrusted with Jeffrey’s arrangements.

I recently saw a mutual friend of Jeff's and heard of his passing... I worked on Lunenburg Street for 20 years at two hair salons (Headhunters and VIP Cuts) Jeffrey was always a kind hearted sole... In 1986 when I first met him he worked with Sandy and Helan at their dinner... They welcomed all into their community on Lunenburg Street. I have many fond memories of Jeff and met many of his family members throughout the years. He was always ready to help around the salon or run an errand to grab me lunch at Cozy Corner. Rest in Peace Jeff

SO so sad.My wife and I ran the east side variety for ten years and the first time I walked into the old Dempsey's drug store this young man fallowed me through the door. I never would have guessed this young man would become one of the most important people in our lives for the next 30 years.Ten years later we opened the Cozy Corner Coffee Shop and you guessed it,the first person through door was Jeff.We ran the Cozy for 20 years and most people never really knew who really owned the place,Helen and I or Jeff.I even wondered myself sometimes. When my wife got sick we kind of lost touch with Jeff but he was never far from our hearts.Well,Jeff is up there with Helen now and whatever she's up too I'm sure he's right there helping her like he always did. ' God Bless You Pal ' Sandy DiPrima

I remember Jeff quite well. He was a friend of my mothers. I was about 9 years old when I started seeing Jeff on his bike up and down Lunenburg St. I am now 42 and he was a part of my childhood that I will never forgot. Many members of my family knew Jeff as well I remember his laugh like it was yesterday. He was always happy. Jeff thank you for all my memories

Oh Jeff, this day came way too soon. I want you to know what a kind, loving, very special person you were to so many people. I have been humbled by the out pouring of love I witnessed from your friends and neighbors. You touched so many hearts. You are among your brothers now and they will watch over you. You were truly an angle on this earth and the Lord needed you back. Rest easy Jeffrey, until we see each other again know that I loved you very much.
