Jeffrey “Jeff" Donald Beish, 84, of Lake Placid, FL, passed away on February 4, 2025. He was born on October 17, 1940, in Lenoir, NC, to the late Donald and Una Beish.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Jeff dedicated his career to aviation as a Flight Simulator Engineer. His work contributed to the advancement of flight training and safety, reflecting his keen intellect and passion for technology.
Since moving to Lake Placid in 2001 from Washington, DC, Jeff immersed himself in his many interests. An accomplished amateur astronomer, he spent countless hours gazing at the night sky, sharing his knowledge, and authoring several books on astronomy. His love for science, discovery, and education was evident in everything he did. Jeff also loved martial arts, particularly teaching youth Judo.
Beyond his professional and intellectual pursuits, Jeff found great joy in playing the guitar, working with computers, and most of all, cherishing time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love and wisdom will forever be treasured by those who knew him.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Martha June Beish; his children, Natalie Beish of Lake Placid, FL, and Donald W. Beish of Stuttgart, Germany; his brother, Donald W. Beish of Richmond, VA; and his five beloved grandchildren.
Jeff’s kindness, curiosity, and love for his family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
