Jesse and I were school mates we played all kind of sports and he was my running back. I always thought about him. Ever since I found out he had passed I been thinking about him and my heart is sad

Jesse was a good friend of mine in the Navy. He was always happy and smiling. I know he'll be greatly missed.

Jesse's Obituary

Jesse “Dondi” Barrera III born October 30,1964 in San Antonio went to be with the lord on March 25, 2025, at the age of 60. Jesse passed away at Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital surrounded by his family. Jesse was a cherished husband, devoted father, and loving grandfather. His parents would often call him their "Angel". Jesse touched many with his smile, laugh, kindness and generosity. His presence is deeply missed. 

Jesse served in the US Navy from 1987-1991. By joining the navy, he was able to relocate his family to San Diego, California. Jesse loved doing all things outdoors and enjoying life with his family. He enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing, riding his bicycle or motorcycle, and exploring new things on road trips. 

He is preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother Jesse and Evangelina Barrera.

He is survived by his loving wife Lydia Barrera; son Jesse Adam Barrera IV; daughters, Jennifer Barrera, Rachel Bañuelos and husband Ricardo Bañuelos; parents, Jesse and Susanne Barrera Jr; brothers, Mike Barrera and Alex Barrera; grandchildren, Angelina, Ricardo Jr, Alani, Alicia, and Myles; great granddaughter Isla. He will be missed and remembered by extended family and friends. 

In our hearts forever. We know that you are now at peace. May we all remember his spirit and let it shine through us.

Visitation will be held on Monday April 14, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Rosary.

Procession will depart Hillcrest on Tuesday April 15, 2025, for a 12:00 PM Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church.

Burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Arrival at 1:45 PM (Shelter # 4).
