Joanne Engledow Obituary

Devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Joanne Yohler Engledow, passed away Monday, April 29, 2024. She always put God and family first.  She was born and raised in Marion County, IN and graduated from Pike High School. Joanne attended Whitestown Methodist Church from the 1950’s until early 1970’s, when she and Bill moved to Lebanon and became members of First Baptist Church, where they remained active until health issues kept them from attending.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, William R. Engledow; a daughter, Jacque Lea; father, Clifford Paul Yohler, Sr. (Doc); mother, Margaret Price Yohler (Nana); brother, Clifford Paul Yohler, Jr. (Cliff); sister, Blanche Yohler Robison; and grandson, Nicholas Ryan Engledow.

Survivors include son, Larry Engledow (Terry); daughter, Randy Lynn Engledow Phillips (Donnie); grandchildren, Danette Harmon (Michael Smith), William Billy Harmon, Christopher Engledow (Devin), Jessica Engledow Spencer, and Christopher Kirk Wise; along with 11 great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, brother-in -law, Lowell Hull, who Joanne attended grade school with, and nephew Ronnie Robison, who always considered Joanne his second mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Indiana or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Randy, so sorry for your and your family's loss. Have lots of memories of both Joanne and Bill. Joanne was always friendly and kind. A wonderful person. It's never easy losing a parent. Prayers for peace and comfort at this time.

Joanne was my first and best friend when I moved to Indianapolis in 1970. Always a gentle person who helped me at work and with my new life away from family in Ohio. She was loved and will be remembered in my heart.
