Not sure what to say?

Joe was a dear friend that will be missed by so many. He had a heart for missions and his church. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and his family. We will miss him so much but we will see him again in heaven.

Although Joe was a year younger than me, we were close friends and grew up together. Both of us attended Calvary Baptist Church. I moved away to at tend Central Baptist College and I became a pastor for 50 years. We were separated but remained friends. We had fun as children playing in a haybarn. Also we made juice from muscadines but we couldn't get it sweet. We are so sorry Rose and family for the loss. He will be greatly missed by many people. We look forward to seeing him again in...

I will certainly miss Joe. We "grew up" together. Years after I had left Marvell, he remained there, serving The Lord in Calvary Baptist Church. I miss him even though I rarely got to see him because I had left the area years previously. Joe was faithfully and continually serving The Lord. My wife, Vivian and I, surely miss him already. I shall always miss him. Rose, may The Lord continue holding you close to him. I know that He shall.

What a pleasure to know Joe and his wife Rose and their family! He was certainly a fine Christian and I know he will be missed by all who knew him. Rose so sorry for your loss, sending love to you and your family❣Lance and I have been and will be praying for you and your family.

Carol and I have precious memories of visiting Calvary Baptist Church, and Joe and Rose Kemmer. We enjoyed Joe and Roses's music (that CD is more special now), fellowship and friendliness and always felt at home in Marvell. May God fill the Kemmer family's hearts and minds with precious memories, peace and comfort.

Brother Joe has been a great blessing to me the last 12 years or so. Always kind and generous. I’m so sorry for his passing but look forward to seeing him again in glory.

We want to express out deepest condolences to the entire Kemmer family. Joe gave so much to our community. You will be in our prayers for you to find peace and comfort in the days ahead.

Joe Kemmer, was fine Christian Man, and Freind, to All Who Knew Him, which everyone knows! He will be remembered to me as one who really Helped me get started, Introduced me to Valued People, and was a Friend and Customer for All His Life. Praying for Comfort, to All His Family and Freinds, and if you Don’t Know Jesus, You need to Accept Jesus into Your Life!

Joe's Obituary

Joe Calvin Kemmer, age 80, of Marvell, passed away on September 8, 2025. Born on December 12, 1944, in Helena, he was one of four children to the family of Roy and Clara Lou Kemmer. Joe received early education through the public schools and in 1962 graduated from Marvell High School. Joe chose to continue his studies in Tennessee, at the Nashville Automotive Diesel College for one year.

On June 18, 1966, he married Rose Lazenby and together they raised two sons, John and James. Through the years many of their greatest joys were found in seeing their family  grow with the addition of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Joe had many different hobbies such as fishing and as a skilled marksman enjoyed hunting and sharing his skills with his sons. His love of the outdoors also carried over into his career as a farmer, where Joe was a well-known and respected member of the farming community.

Outside of his profession, he was a gifted accordion player and singer and always enjoyed being a member of the Gospel Express Band. He served his country and community with pride, as a member of the National Guard, The Gideons, and President of the Marvell Cemetery Association.

Joe enjoyed times of worship and shared his faith with his church family at the Calvary Baptist Church in Marvell, serving as Treasurer, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Rollan and Clara Lou Kemmer, brother Roy Kemmer, and sister Sally Reed.
