Joe L. Pope, Sr.

1944 - 2023

On Wednesday January 11, 2023 Joe Louis Pope Sr of Suffolk, VA passed away quietly at the age of 78. Preceded in death his wife of 37 years, Amelia Pope from Brooklyn, NY. Leaving behind his 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Louis loved being the life of the party and was a funny character 😆. He was also very strong willed as most of us know, lol. He loved old school music like The O’Jays, Smokey Robinson, The Manhattans, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle and the list could go on. You couldn’t tell him that he wasn’t flexible and a great dancer with several different expressions. For example “ Go head now”, “Don’t you rare”, “You boys wouldn’t like me when I’m angry”, “I’m either gonna do 1 of three things, Live in it, Rent it or Sell it and I mean that’s it”. Our dad was well respected, he knew everyone. He always enjoyed talking and a good meal. He could and would talk you to death, real long winded and he could hear a whisper. We can’t forget all the family and friends he helped throughout his life. Last, but not least we have to make mention that he was a very hard worker all his life. He enjoyed truck driving and we are proud and grateful for his example. You will be missed! John5:28,29
