Joe Franklin Payne

1948 - 2021

Mr. Joe Franklin Payne, age 73, of Rome, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at a local hospital.

Joe was born in Trion, Georgia on May 15, 1948, the son of the late Willie H. Payne and the late Marie Autry Payne.  Joe served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was a truck driver for many years.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Payne.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gwen Daniel Payne; his children, Jill Gober, Jennifer Gober, Daniel Gober, Joe Payne, Jr., and Kataleen Cannon (Damon); his grandchildren, Joshua, Courtney, Cavin, Skylar, Nick, Emily, and Elizabeth; his three great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at 2:30 pm at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clifford Free officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
