John Daniel Boothe was born to Daniel Jones Boothe and Alice Thompson Boothe in Danville, VA June 2, 1942. He died April 5, 2025, four days after the death of his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Marshall Boothe. John was a devoted husband to Kathleen who suffered from brittle bone disease for many years and his number one priority was taking care of her. He lived in Gastonia, NC from 1972-2010 when he moved to Chesapeake, VA, where he had resided since. John earned a B.A Degree from Milligan College of Tennessee, and a Masters Degree from NC State in Marketing and Business Education. He enjoyed a long career as a Hospital Administrator, Human Resource Director, Sales Manager, Educator of Marketing and Business education for Gaston County, Charlotte-Mecklenberg and Chesapeake, Virginia schools. John loved to volunteer and was a DECA club advisor, tennis coach and basketball coach for schools and parks and recreation as well. John had a passion for teaching. He never gave up on a student. He mentored so many high schoolers and helped them learn how to make businesses on the internet. He was a locally ranked tennis player with the Dillard Tennis Club of Charlotte NC. He also enjoyed basketball, swimming, and was an active member of the YMCA. He and his wife Kathleen owned J & K Custom Designs of Chesapeake VA. He was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Chesapeake. John's motto was “Leave Sunshine Wherever You Go”. He and his wife were longtime residents at Sunstone Adult Apartment Community of Chesapeake, VA.
John is survived by his daughter, Michelle Boothe Rhodes of Atlanta GA; grandchildren, Amanda Grabowski of Atlanta GA, Christine Grabowski of Atlanta GA, Annabelle Jones of VA, Jacob Jones of TN, Chandler Jones of VA, Cameron Rhodes of Marietta GA, and Craig Rhodes of Manhattan, NY.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
