John S. “Toby” Citrano, 93, of Summit Hill, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his residence. He was the husband of Louise (Jones) Citrano. They had been married for 67 Years this past June. Born in Nesquehoning, he was the son of the late Jerome Citrano Sr. and Elizabeth (Militello) Citrano. He was a graduate of the former St. Ann’s High School, Class of 1950. John was employed at Keystone Lamp Manufacturing Company in Slatington and had retired from International Paper Company in Hazleton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1954. John was very active in sports throughout his life, having been a PIAA Basketball Official for 25 years. He was also a former Basketball Coach for St. Ann’s Parochial team that had won a Championship in 1969. John was a life member of the former Lansford Amvets and a member of the Summit Hill American Legion Post 316. He was a former member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church and St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church both of Lansford and was a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.
Surviving along with his wife are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Michael, Angelo, Samuel, Joseph, Frank, Anthony and Jerome Jr. Citrano; sisters, Jennie Petraroi, Frances Goboda, Mary Williams and Elizabeth Mele.
Mass of Christian Burial is on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. from St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill with the Rev. Eric Gruber officiating. Military Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, White Bear, Summit Hill. Calling Hours are Monday from 9:30-11:00 am. at the Church. Funeral arrangements have been placed in the care of the Parambo Funeral Home, Summit Hill. Online Condolences may be shared at www.parambofh.com
