Houndog, you will never be forgotten. We had so much fun together. I am lost for words. I had you live with me in FL when the hurricane took away your house. I talked to you about coming down anytime you wanted or needed. I just talked to you a few weeks ago about connecting in Lauderdale in February. I’ll miss you a lot and will cherish our friendship. Love Rock Bottom (John gave me this name).

Dear Jill, Janet & Joyce:
Hound Dog - a good guy & friend to many. I have no doubt that the stories to be shared will bring some smiles along with your tears. Such a character! He packed a lot of life into his time on earth. I think of how often he could make my Mother (Phyllis) laugh.

The Hanson Family ,
So sad of hearing of the passing of John.
A great friend and will always remember the great times we shared together playing hockey for the Brass Rail next door to Pope John XX III High School in Everett.
Later the name changed to the
Bacalas ( in Italian meaning Dried Cod Fish) . My best memories with Hound Dog and a list of characters playing at Hockey Town in Saugus for too many years to count. Then after the game memories of going to the Blue Star, Vougue , Owl’s Nest , Brass Rail and Monsters House .
Hound Dog was always Happy and unselfish player and a great supportive team mate no matter the situation. A great team with equally great friend followers. I have fond memories of the best times with Hound Dog, Savage , Jim , David Duke, Tommy , Danny , Billy , Sal, Dicker , Morris , Bobby , Monster, and everyone in this group. These memories will last forever .
Thank you Hound Dog you will always be remembered. I will forever cherish our Friendship.
In Deepest Sympathy , your friend,
Mini Ha Ha ( Stephen Grasso)

John was the most kind and compassionate person that touched my life
I will never forgot how you were there for me when I had health issues and how you called me often and encouraged me that everything was going to be all right. He helped me through the toughest time in my life. That was the kind of guy he was.
Rest in peace my friend.

Who knew that seeing you a couple of weeks ago, for the first time in a few years, would sadly be the last time we ever spoke. August 1, 1969, we were sworn in to Local 7 together as first year apprentices. The Salem Powerhouse, Everett Powerhouse, elevator fronts for Leo Kelly in Newport. The list goes on for our careers. Can’t tell you how much I always looked forward to working with you. Say hi to Wally. See you later.

To the best brother anyone could ask for my life will never be the same and you will be in my heart forever. As the younger sister he led the way for me and made my life easy and we had wonderful parents that taught us respect so as we grew older we had Maureen Dooley as our babysitter who was only a few years older than Johnny so my brother decided he could convince my parents so every Saturday Night my parents went out dancing and I would have to stay in my bedroom while he had these wild parties as my babysitter and the next morning Boom Town would be on TV and he would order me to make him 10 peanut butter crackers with covers on them!! After many years I finally told my parents oh well we made it through and as got older we just had a bond that could never be broken trust in each other to tell our secrets to and talk to each other like Best Friends so I am going to cherish those days forever and will carry the memories we shared forever with me - I will miss you Johnnycakes so now that you are up in heaven please watch over my daughter Christine and I hope that Mom and Dad and Christine were at the Golden Gates to welcome you in I will love you forever - Rest in Peace and we'll meet again someday Love you xoxo

So sorry to hear about John. I was with John when he became Hound Dog. We were at Joe’s place in Cambridge watching Hound Dog Taylor perform and somehow a group of us wound-up in Hound Dog Taylor’s dressing room. Hound Dog told john he was a Hound Dog also. Great memories John was always nice to everyone. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Jill, Janet and Joyce and their families . John was a great friend and he will be missed by many, especially EHS Class of 68. He lived life to the fullest. We shared so many memories together and our last conversation, just two days before he left this earthly life. God needed another Angel. Your spirit will live on,never to be forgotten!
