John J. Heany

1932 - 2024

John J. Heany Jr., age 92 of North Cape May passed away on Saturday June 22, 2024.  He was born in Philadelphia and resided in Northeast Philadelphia most of his life. 

John attended college at Drexel University and Yale University. He served in the US Navy from 1955-1957 and was a member of the Navy Seabee's. John was a civil engineer for 37 years for the City of Philadelphia Street Department.  He enjoyed gardening, Philadelphia sports (Phillies and Eagles) and golf.  He was a member of the ASCE.

Loving husband of 68 years to Helen M. (nee Blessing). Beloved father of Helen Mary Heany and Judith Heany. Grandfather of Aiden and Zoey Heany. Brother of Patricia Gass (the late Bill) and Carol Steiner (James). John was preceded in death by his parents Marie (nee Donahue) and John J. Heany and his brother Richard Heany (Cass).

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Monday, July 8, 2024 9:45-10:20 AM Resurrection of Our Lord Church (2000 Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19152). Followed by Funeral Mass 10:30 AM. Inurnment Washington Crossing Cemetery 2:30 PM.
