John Heron, Jr. Obituary

John J. Heron, Jr., "Jack", 85, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2026.

The eldest of seven, Jack was born in Philadelphia in 1940 to Mary and John Heron Sr. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1958. He was a resident of Upper Darby until 1971 when he moved to Martin’s Corner, PA to start a family.

Jack worked as a plant engineer for LG Industries in Coatesville for almost 40 years, retiring in 2012. He was known for his commitment to the safety of employees and meticulous attention to detail. In his free time, Jack was an avid sailor, enjoying summer days on the Chesapeake with family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Chesapeake Isle Community Association and took pride in caring for the harbor and beaches of his beloved home. Jack will always be remembered for his insatiable curiosity, indefatigable work ethic, and above all, his unwavering commitment to family.

Jack is survived by his dedicated caregiver and loving wife of 54 years Roseanne; children, Jacqui Heron Finn (Matthew) of Marshfield, MA, and John (Michaela Palchick) of Wyndmoor, PA; and grandchildren, Patrick, Jasper and Sal. He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Joe and Maureen of Wayne, Richard and Sue of Media, and Michael and Barbara of West Bradford, sister-in-law Irene of West Chester and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John, his brother Frank, his sister Maria Arnholt and brother-in-law George Arnholt and his nephew Danny.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 30 East Franklin Street, Media, PA. 19063. A Visitation will be held beforehand starting at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Media, PA.

We will miss you Jack, but you are in a much better place and your suffering has mercifully ended. Your Saint Alice classmates share this with me.

For Jack
Some people leave their mark in grand ways, others in smaller, truer things—Sunday breakfasts shared, wood shaped by patient hands, a birdhouse mended, a step stool made just because it was needed.
Jack’s kindness traveled easily—
across a fence, up the walk,
to a pergola where summer drinks and easy laughter lived.
I did not know him long, but I knew him well enough to know the world is better for the care he gave it.
He will be missed,
and remembered with gratitude.
