John Looney Obituary

John E. "Jack" Looney, 77, passed away April 30, 2016. The rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm Tuesday, May 3rd at St. Thomas More Church 11822 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO, followed by visitation until 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00am Wednesday at St. Thomas More Church. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Rockhurst High School.

Jack was born December 5, 1938 in St. Louis, MO to John and Eleanor Looney. He attended Rockhurst High School, Rockhurst College and served in the US Air Force. Jack was a co-owner of Precision-Bilt Parts Co. for 42 years. He was a founding member of St. Thomas More Church, a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he received the honor of Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Jack was a man who taught us all about faith and family. He could always be spotted with his rosary at Sunday mass. He exemplified his faith by always helping others. He sponsored children in Guatemala. Jack taught his children and grandchildren about being of service to others, especially those less fortunate. He was humble and kind. Jack believed in the value of hard work, starting all the way back with job as a paper boy. His favorite place was the Lake of the Ozarks with the sun shining on him, beer in his hand while driving the boat. The memories he gave his children and grandchildren will never be forgotten. Most of all Jack's love for his wife, Mary, was unwavering. He loved her more than anything and forever.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Nickerson) Looney; children, Chris Looney and wife Kimberly, Susan Perez, John Looney and wife Carey, Patrick Looney and wife Maria and Rachel Donovan; grandchildren, Michael Looney, Nick, Mary, Anthony and Rosie Perez, Maggie Nothnagel and Johnny Looney, Natalie, Caroline, Monica and Luke Looney, Jack Donovan; a sister, Joan Galbraith.
