John Nease Obituary

John David “Dave” Nease was called to join the Lord in the Celestial Lodge on Friday, January 26th at 6 pm after fighting Cancer for a second time.  Marlene, his wife of nearly 50 years, was by his side at home when he passed.

Dave was born on March, 17th, 1938 to Don and Carrie Nease in Racine, Ohio.  In childhood he learned to hunt and fish in the woods and waters around his southern Ohio home, and they became pursuits that he enjoyed for the entirety of his 79 years.  In 1955, upon graduation from High School at 17, he joined the Air Force and served 4 years.  Trained as a Munitions Specialist, his main tour of duty was in Guam loading munitions on Air Force bombers.

After the military, Dave took advantage of the G.I. Bill and enrolled in Welding and also Machinist School and later secured employment at North American Rockwell. He met and married Marlene Carol Moore in 1968.  A year later, their son David Russell Nease was born.  They purchased their first home and settled in Baltimore, Ohio.   After being laid off when the B-1 program was halted and later rehired at North American Rockwell at a truck axel plant, Dave secured employment with the Boeing Company in 1979 and the family moved from Ohio to Western Washington, settling in Sumner.

As a Boeing employee, Dave worked at the Auburn Plant and at the Developmental Center as a Numerical Control Machinist until he retired. He served others as a Union steward for the Machinists Union and took advantage of opportunities through Boeing employee clubs to sky dive and to take skiing trips.

In 1985, Dave joined the Masonic Fraternity by petitioning Phoenix Lodge #154, of which he was an active member until his passing. He served his Brothers as Master of the lodge and by taking part in the ritual degrees.  He often performed visitations to other lodges in the Jurisdiction and made many friends.  He extended his Masonic connections and education by becoming a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Tacoma and the Order of the Eastern Star, Guiding Star Chapter #99 in Sumner.

Dave is survived by his wife Marlene, his sister Mary Alice Nease and his son and daughter in-law David Russell and Danielle Louise Nease as well as his grandchildren Johnathan David and Genny Louise Nease along with many nieces and nephews. Dave was loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Please join us to remember him at Sumner United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 10th at 11 AM with reception to follow in the dining room of the church.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to Early Life Speech & Language program founded and supported by the Scottish Rite Masons of Washington by calling 1-855-543-8255 or visiting their website at http://earlylifespeech.org/Support/Donate
