John Wesley Sample

1949 - 2025

John Wesley Sample, born in Bryan, Texas on February 24, 1949, passed away peacefully in Conroe, Texas on May 5, 2025.

John was preceded in death by his father Floy Sample and mother Johnnie Marie Sample, as well as his brothers Tom Sample, twin Jerry Sample, and Dwayne Sample.

He is survived by his beloved wife Kaye Thornton Sample, son Jonathan Sample, and daughter Melissa Sample, along with five cherished grandchildren: Wesley, Caleb, Samantha, Alexandra, and Mackenzie. John is also survived by four loving sisters, Mary Brown, Cheryl Denton, Lee Ann Christie, and Rebecca McCoy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who will remember him fondly.

John graduated from Trinity High School in the Class of 1967 and honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 23 years. After retiring from the military, John embarked on a successful career with the City of Anchorage, Alaska Municipal District, where he was a loyal employee for over 20 years. John's dedication to his community was evident through his volunteer work, including delivering Meals on Wheels to Anchorage residents.

John was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and the Sam Houston Bearkats. He enjoyed movies, dancing, and a good steak. After marrying Kaye, John cherished the many visits with her family and held them in high regard. He was well-known for his corny one-liner jokes, which he affectionately referred to as "Dad" jokes.

John has left a legacy of treasured memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
