John Donald Shultheis passed away May 14, 2022. He was born June 29, 1934 in Bloomington, Indiana, the “precious” son of John Arthur Shultheis and Hazel Faye Stone Shultheis and fun-loving brother to Analie Shultheis Townsend and Mary Beth Shultheis Zolezzi. John married Donna May Cheshire September 7, 1957. They were amazing parents to their children Jodi, Juli, and John and loving grandparents/great-grandparents. Family was important to John, and he went out of his way to be sure everyone had a great time attending many wonderful holiday celebrations at his home.
John served in the Army in Alaska and later worked for General Motors for about 30 years. He graduated from Purdue in 1961 with a diploma in Applied Technology. In his spare time and retirement, he enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, mushroom hunting, woodworking, car restoration, bird watching and travel with family and friends. John was mechanically talented and used his skills to help others as well as volunteering at Speedway United Methodist Church as a Trustee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Blain Ray Bryant.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna May Shultheis, his sisters: Analie Townsend and Mary Beth Zolezzi (Greg), his children: Jodi Cook(Brian), Juli Stuve(Dave), John Edwin Shultheis(Brenda), his grandchildren: Jennifer Cook, Braden Cook(Brittney), Andrew Stuve, Matthew Stuve, John Allen Shultheis(Candice), Joshua Shultheis(Jasmine), Great-grandchildren: Christian Ward, Brooklyn Shultheis, John Dwayne Shultheis, and Jenna Mae Shultheis, Roman Cook and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm with services beginning at 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 19th, at Conkle Funeral Home in Speedway at 4925 West 16th Street. Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
