John Stephens Jr. beloved father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, went to be with the lord August 29, 2025. Born a twin on April 23, 1961, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, John was the son of the late Kathleen Stephens and John Stephens Sr.
From an early age, John had a gift for working with his hands. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts, setting the tone for a lifetime defined by dedication, hard work and skill. He developed a love for cars early on, and throughout his life, he found joy in fixing, restoring, and driving them—especially his Jeep and his cherished 1948 Ford.
John was a proud and hardworking man who found fulfillment in his career. His first job was at HEB and while working, he earned his associate’s degree. His knack for fixing anything and everything was admired by all who knew him. He made many friends working at Briggs Equipment and took pride in his daughter who worked alongside him there. Outside of work, John found happiness in the simple joys of life: casting a fishing line, playing with his dogs, tending his yard, cutting grass until it was just right, indulging in sweet treats, and playing spades with family and friends. Some of his most cherished moments were going to breakfast with his daughter, Kathrynn, and his granddaughter, Harper—a tradition filled with laughter and love.
John’s legacy lives on in his children, Kathrynn Stephens and Nic Johnson, his granddaughter, Harper. He is also survived by his siblings; Colleen Stephens, Pamela Spacek and her husband Jimmy, Joan Stephens (his twin) and her husband Bill Mauricio, Matthew Stephens and his wife Judy Stephens. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen and John Stephens Sr. and sister, Mary Elizabeth Stephens.
John’s warmth, humor, and steady presence touched many lives. His love for family, his pride in his work, and his joyful spirit will be remembered always.
There will be a visitation held on Friday September 12, 2025, at the Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home chapel from 5-7. A celebration of John’s life will be on Saturday September 13, 2025 at 10.00 am at the funeral Home Chapel, 1071 FM 2673 Sattler @ Canyon Lake, Texas 78133
