Joseph Lynders Obituary

ANSONIA: Joseph Francis Lynders, age 78, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 29, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his loving wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joan Gulyas Lynders. They celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 17.

Mr. Lynders was born in Bridgeport on July 22, 1940, son of the late John and Elizabeth Sandor Lynders. A resident of Ansonia for many years, he worked as a Master Industrial Designer for his own company, Flexible Thinking Group. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Midway. He was a devoted communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, a member of its Catholic Men’s Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Rosary Council 10537. He was also a member of the Sons of St. Joseph at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull and a member of the Mensa Society. He very much enjoyed racquetball, tennis and spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Lynders was known to many for his sense of humor and joyful nature. He will be missed. The family would like to thank the caregivers, family, friends and neighbors for their wonderful care and support.

In addition to his wife Joan, he leaves to cherish his memory, a loving son, David J. Lynders (Michelle Sartain) of Brooklyn, NY, a loving daughter, Christine J. Lynders of Trumbull, brothers, John Lynders of Stratford and William Lynders (Lucy) of Fairfield, sisters, Elizabeth Stella (Carl) of Trumbull and Margaret Voytek (Peter) of Fairfield, cherished grandchildren, Kenzie and Scott Lynders and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment with U.S. Navy military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or to Holy Rosary Church through the funeral home.
