Joseph Montroni Obituary
Joseph John Montroni, 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away on July 2, 2014.
Joseph was raised in Hoboken and Union City. A talented athlete, Joseph played baseball for Union Hill High School in Union City where he pitched a no-hitter and later graduated from West Milford Twp. High School. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. A devout Catholic, Joseph was an active parishioner of St. John Vianney RC Church in Stockholm and St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church in Oak Ridge where he served as a Eucharistic minister and lector. Joseph was a member of the VFW in Milton and the Knights of Columbus Joseph F. Lambe Council #5510 where he served as Grand Knight as well as holding several other offices.
Joseph was an avid golfer and sports aficionado but his greatest love of all was his family. He was the devoted husband of Audrey (nee Keefe); loving father to Lori Johnson and Rene Kolb; adored grandfather of Scott Johnson, Brittany Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Paul Kolb and Maranda Kolb; loving brother of Carmel Burch; and cherished friend to many.
Friends and family may visit from 4-8pm on Sunday, July 6 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am on Monday, July 7 at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church , 155 West Parkway, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.
