Joseph, 95, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2024. Joe was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the eldest child and only son of Agnes and Joseph Schoettmer from Germany.
He attended Roger Bacon High School and proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. After graduating from Miami University on the GI Bill and receiving an Air Force commission, he spent 40 years with the General Electric Company. Starting his career as an appliance salesman, he rose through the ranks and ended his career as GM of Advertising for GE’s Major Appliance Division. His passions included family and friends, travel, gardening, golf, the opera, the Miami Redhawks and the Cincinnati Reds. Joe ran and finished many marathons during his life, most notably the Chicago and New York City marathons. He was also an avid tennis player and an active member of the Cincinnati Tennis Club, as well as a board member of the Deep Canyon Tennis Club in Palm Desert, California.
Joe is survived by his three children, son David of Salt Lake City, son Jon of Cincinnati and daughter Susan Martin and grandson Sam of Cincinnati. He is also survived by his sister Marianne Haase of Villa Hills, KY and had a late sister, Linda Verst of Taylor Mill, KY.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be determined for a later date for family and friends.
