Joseph C. Weaver, Sr., 87, of Blairsville, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Latrobe Hospital.
The son of Rev. Homer L. and Freda (Cornman) Weaver he was born April, 8 1934 in Punxsutawney.
Mr. Weaver attended the Free Methodist Church, now CrossRoads Community Church in Blairsville, until recent years when he attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Blairsville.
Married on June 6, 1953 to the former Doris English of Rossiter, Mr. Weaver worked for Agway in Blairsville, and then for many years as an installer for Bell Telephone/Verizon, serving the Blairsville, Boliver, and Parkwood area until his retirement in 1996. He then joined his wife at Weaver's House of Herbs in Black Lick, PA until her retirement.
He had three great loves in his life, his God, his wife of 65 years, and family. A hardworking man, he still had time to lend a helping hand to others and like his wife welcomed any family member in need of love and shelter.

Surviving are his six children: Joseph Jr. (Patti), Blairsville; Perry (Doris), Home; Lori Steffen (Mike), New Alexandria; Lynn Shetler (Denver), Blairsville; Valorie Armstrong (Steve), Spiceland, Ind; and Jackie Huston (Jim), Latrobe; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and 2 expected; three sisters-in-law: Nelda Shields of Gaston, Ind.; Marge English, Erie; Shirley Weaver, Indiana; one brother-in-law, Bill Dunmire, Punxsutawney; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and his wife, Doris on September 1, 2018, he was preceded in death by two infant grandsons; one infant great-granddaughter; two brothers, Homer Jr. and William; and one sister Dorothy Elbel.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday and also Friday morning from 10 am to the time of services at 11 conducted by Pastor John Sykes, at Shoemaker Funeral Home Inc., Blairsville.

Joe was such a kind spirited man . If there was something that needed to be done, he was always there to help and share his many talents. He and his wife were such a great example to his family and friends of how God should be the center of a marriage. The Weaver home was always open to anyone that entered. He left behind a legacy to his family that with God all things are possible. He will be missed here but I’m sure Heaven is rejoicing ❤

I was a neighbor of Joe's in the building where he lived. I had the privilege of knowing him for the last 3 years, or so. He always had a kind word to say and a story or some wisdom to share.
He was a vital part of our community, here, and will be sorely missed by many people.
My condolences to your family.

My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends. Joe was truly a man of God, strong faith and love. Always willing to help in anyway he could along with Miss Bev. Now they are together again. Forever in our hearts of very fond memories. God bless.

Although Joe was my cousin, he felt more like an uncle. I appreciated him and Aunt Sis visiting my mother, Mary (Cornman) Sink when she first went into a personal care home. He was always a caring man and will be missed by all.
