Joshua Elliott Obituary

Our Joshua was called home to heaven on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. He is a beloved son to his parents, Brandy & Cliff Harbolt, Alan & Hannah Elliott, and a humorous, annoying, yet dearly loving and caring, older brother to Athena & Dorian Dyess, AJ & Tristan Elliott, and his two step-siblings, Logan & Miranda Harbolt.

Josh was born in Tomball, Texas on September 2, 1996, making his grand appearance on Labor Day. Knowing Josh’s humor, we can all appreciate the irony in his delivery date. What a handsome young man he grew up to be, continuing to amaze and impress us with his kind heart, knowledge, humor, quick wit, and unique personality. As Josh grew up, he enjoyed playing sports; learning to slam dunk a basketball on his little tikes hoop at the early age of 2, moving on to play little league baseball for the YMCA where he hit a grand slam and cracked his Louisville slugger, scoring a home run for the team. Josh was a Boy Scout for a while, enjoying camping, fishing, hiking, and earning all the badges he possibly could. He competed in the Pinewood Derby, proudly bringing home the trophy for first place in den. He was a math wiz, but even more so, an avid speller, excelling in English Language Arts, participating in several rounds of the Spelling Bee, eventually getting second place after battling another student for what seemed like hours. You could always count on Josh to be the first to correct you and point out the difference between your and you’re or their, there, and they’re. Josh learned to play chess and enthusiastically challenged and beat even the wittiest adults, eventually competing in a few school district tournaments, bringing home high placement ribbons, but enjoying the challenge every step of the way. Let us not forget his love for Yu-Gi-Oh! cards or video games, they were on every wish list from birthday to Christmas. Josh attended Magnolia West High School where he made many friends who became more like family, even to this day. Even from a young age, Josh had the ability to engage and forge lasting relationships with just about everyone he met… it was odd for him to ever meet a stranger. He spent the majority of his senior year in Katy and graduated from Mayde Creek High School.

Josh’s love for his family and friends was wholeheartedly enormous. He was overjoyed by being a big brother, playing with his brothers and sister, teaching them new things and eventually being their number one tormenter of tickling, wrestling, and occasionally giving them a hairy “moon”. Certainly there was no greater sibling love than that of his. Joshua enjoyed visiting with his grandparents whether he was playing cards, working on trucks, gardening, or just lounging around watching movies and enjoying their cooking. He treasured his friendships, sticking by one another through the thick and the thin...friends that he loved and appreciated for those very reasons. Josh had a tremendous love for animals and would frequently bring home all kinds of them to feed, love and care for.

In his young adult years, life led Josh down some difficult paths and taught him some lessons the hard way; but he continued to try his best to overcome them, taking steps to better his future and get where he wanted to be in life. In the end, heaven just couldn’t wait any longer, how could we possibly blame it.... We got to love Joshua his whole life and still, it wasn’t long enough. So now, we’ll love him for the rest of ours and continue to love him even after God calls us home and we’re reunited.

Although God gave our Joshua his wings earlier than any of us could have ever imagined, we know that he’s in a better place; no struggles, no strife, and no pain. His loss causes a heartache like no other. Today, tomorrow, and always, we’ll fight through this grief not by forgetting, but by remembering… and what a wonderful blessing Josh is to remember.

For all the things Josh is; a loving son, a caring brother, a nurturing grandson, great grandson, a silly cousin, a fun-loving nephew, a loyal friend... one thing stands above all else, most of all, he is loved and will greatly be missed.

I love you Josh! You were taken too soon. I will miss you until I see you again some day. My heart breaks for you Brandy, and for the rest of the family as well. I remember when I won tickets to buzzfest after I had already bought two, and I was so excited because that meant I could take Josh and Brandy!!! Josh got us right up to the front of the stage to see Filter! I still have my Filter concert tee from that night! I love yall and I wish I could be there in person.

Josh was such a big part of my life since the beginning of high school. We have shared so many cherishable memories that I will never forget. Taking me to my first buzzfest was definitely a night to remember with him. Sitting on the lawn while somewhere out there by our lady peace played.. all I thought was nothing could surpass the way that I feel right now. Complete happiness with this boy I cared so much for. Very grateful to have experienced that moment with him and many more. He was my first love, and I will always love him. I am so relieved that he is happy, healthy and pain free in heaven. Ill see you again.

We were not around much,
Until we spent the weekend with him and his family. It took no time to get to know him, only because he was so warm, friendly, had great discussions from his knowledge..smart.
We will miss him, but know that he is happy now !
We both love him, just from one weekend , that is Joshua!

I speak for myself and Louise Burns.
