Josie P. Towe, born on a beautiful spring day on May 6, 1945, lived a life marked by love, dedication, and steadfast commitment to her family and community.
A proud and devoted professional, Josie retired as a Paralegal with the Social Security Administration, where she served with integrity and compassion throughout her career.
Josie was the loving mother of three children: Tia Freeman, Andre Towe, and Kimberly Boyd. She was also the cherished grandmother of five: Joshua Freeman, Onyx Boyd (deceased July 13, 2023), Morgan Towe, Courtney Boyd, and Sage Freeman.
She is survived by her brother, Joe White; her sisters, Joyce “Sissy” Mack and Leola Mathews; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones who will forever remember her warmth, generosity, and unwavering strength.
Josie’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her—through the family she nurtured, the friendships she cherished, and the kindness she shared so freely.
Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 15, 2026, in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Pastor Jerry Towe, eulogist.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

To the family of Josie P. Towe, A friend I’ll never ever forget. The times we had at The Commons where we used to live. Josie loved my home cooking, she would always say Dee I wish I could cook like you. She enjoyed my home cooked Collards, my spaghetti’s and my chicken pot pie. She was the most loved friend I’ve ever known. You gain your wings rest easy until we meet in heaven. Your life time friend, Devone Sivels Reid (Dee)
