Judith “Judy” Ann Chapman, age 80, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away on March 3, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Born on January 24, 1946, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Cecil and Virginia (Reece) Chapman, Judy spent much of her life in Niles, Michigan, and in Michigan’s Copper Country—Houghton and Hancock. She graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. Judy spent many years working in the banking industry before transitioning to roles in the education departments at Michigan Technological University and later at the University of Notre Dame.
Judy found great joy in helping others and was a devoted mother and friend. She was known for her warm spirit, her love of line dancing, and her active involvement at Faith Lutheran Church, where she played handbells and sang in the choir.
Judy is survived by her sons, Scott A. Graham (Denise) and Stephen D. Graham (Laura); her grandchildren, Corey Graham (Elizabeth), Victoria Graham, Parker Graham, MacKenzie Graham, Jeffrey Olson (Taylor), Matthew Olson, and Emily Olson; her great-grandchildren, Noah Graham, Castiel Graham, Elijah Graham, and Brooks Olson; her brother, Charles Chapman; her sister, Christy Chapman Sabade (Daniel); and her loving companion, Lola. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Through her selfless decision to be an organ donor, Judy leaves behind a powerful legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for others.
A memorial service will be held in the spring, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life Michigan or Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan.
Judy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Judy and I got to know each other when she relentlessly recruited me to sing in the Noteworthy women's chorus and later to start line dancing. We became close going out for wine in the evenings, hiking, and having various adventures as "Thelma and Louise." Nobody had more zest for life than Judy. On one of those adventures, she encouraged me to go out with the man who would become my husband, so it's fair to say she bears some responsibility for our happy marriage. I didn't get to see much of her after she moved downstate, but she was always just a phone call away, and I guess I took her for granted. Now she's gone, and I miss her so much. Love you, Jude.

I had the pleasure of being one of Judy’s dance partners in the mid 90’s while attending Michigan tech as a student. She made line dancing fun and enjoyable to everyone. She had wonderful energy and I’m grateful for the times she let me whirl her around the dance floor. Those were very good times.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of my classmate and friend at Niles Sr. High School class of 1964. We sat next to one another in some of our classes. We seldom communicated in our adult lives, but we would exchange birthday greetings in these later years. I do know that she loved to dance. May the Lord bless her memory.

Dearest Judy, not only did you dance at our Friday night line dancing at the Jewel in Grand Blanc, you volunteered and work the registration desk for my dinner shows for many years and worked my golf outing. The last golf outing you hit a dear on the right front of your car and you still came and worked the golf outing. I love your spirit, your high energy and love your giving heart. You will be missed.
