Judy Farthing Obituary
Danville………Judy Ann Mitchell Farthing, age 71 of Danville died Friday, April 28, 2023 at Piney Forest Health and Rehab Center in Danville.
Born March 3, 1952 in Martinsville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Gordon Mitchell and Elsie Hamlett Mitchell. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Wayne Farthing. Mrs. Farthing was a member of Shermont Baptist Church and semi-retired as an administrative secretary with Home Health Danville Regional after 29 years; she continued working part time at Garrett & Garrett. She enjoyed going to the pool and movies, and spending time and playing with her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Kevin Farthing and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Wiles of Danville; two daughters, Laura Mayes and husband, James of Ringgold and Kristy Farthing of Danville; one sister, Shirley Keatts and husband, Mark of Axton; three grandchildren, Bailey, Ann Marie and Kerri; a nephew, Kenny “Bryon” Rakes and wife, Rebekah of Collinsville; a niece, Rebecca West and husband, Bo of Stuart; and special friends, Peggy and Lewis Harris of Martinsville.
Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Shermont Baptist Church by Rev. Ryan Riley. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Shermont Baptist Church.

Dear Farthing family, I was so sad to hear of Judy's passing. She was a kind and friendly lady. I feel blessed to have known her. Starmont Pool was one of her happy places and I will miss seeing her there. I'm praying for you all♡

We only knew her a moment it seems. We knew we bought the perfect home, as we collected our keys, Judy was out the door, welcoming us. Generous smiles, easy conversations & great wit was offered daily.
I miss my daily chuckle at her struggle to back the car in the driveway. I'm on my own to remember curb collection on Tuesdays. I imagine her on the side porch painting her nails. I'll never share that glass of lemonade in the garden with her...but planting a hydrangea in her memory. Was an honor to have Judy in our life.

I have fond memories of Judy at the home health desk awaiting our arrival in the office to grab us and ask some questions about patients as we zoom in and zoom back out to see them! She always had a huge smile on her face and a bowl full of candies for us to munch on. Even after she left DRMC HH, I saw her here and there around town and would stop, chat and catch up! I miss me some Ms.Judy! I will see her again some day in Heaven!
