Judy Lane (Woolard) Hannig, age 82, born in Washington, North Carolina and a longtime resident of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior at 1:31 pm on January 22, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that the family announces her passing, as she transitioned to eternal life, leaving behind treasured memories and a lasting legacy of faith and love. Her commitment to serving the Lord in churches and schools was an inspiration to many, reflecting a life devoted to compassion, service and unwavering devotion.
Judy was raised in a farming family of fifteen children, born to Onnie and Minnie (Moore) Woolard, who instilled in her the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family.
She graduated from Bath High School and found great joy in her work as a seamstress, a craft she lovingly shared with others. Her heart was also deeply rooted in cooking and gardening. She especially cherished Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays when her home was filled with family, warmth and fellowship; creating treasured memories and a sense of togetherness.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wolfdieter Hannig, Sr.; her beloved two sons, Tony Hannig (engaged to Holly) and father to Shaun and Shannon (and their mother, Renee); Wolfdieter Hanning, Jr. (married to Dawn) and father to Trey (Kasey), Ryan (Valerie), and A.J. (and their mother Donna); step granddaughter, Ivy Baugher; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Rowan, Hadley and Margy (parents Trey & Kasey); and Harper and Noa (parents Ryan and Valerie).
Visitation will be held at 10am, followed by a funeral service at 11am on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Andrews Hampstead Chapel located at Sea Lawn Memorial Park, 17750 Hwy 17 N, Hampstead, North Carolina 28443. The service will be officiated by their Pastor David Hildebrand of Victory Baptist Church, Holly Ridge, NC.
If you would rather donate to a charity in her memory instead of sending flowers, please donate to one of your choice or the family would suggest PrisonFellowship.org. Your gift enables Prison Fellowship and our church partners to share the Gospel with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their children, and to advocate for second chances. Lives are changed, families are reunited and God is glorified. What a great investment!
As family and friends lament her earthly loss, they find solace in God’s promise of a future reunion, where joy and peace will abound. Her life of faithful services leaves a testimony that will endure, and her faith is now made sight as she rests in perfect peace.
Share online condolences with the family, here, in the guestbook.

Wolfe and family, Judy was a rose, as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. As your neighbor for many years Judy and I would share all the many changes and accomplishments of our children and grandchildren. Often Judy would show me her many sewing projects and describe the abilities of her multiple sewing machines. At the beach we would share laughter over the antics of our children in and out of the water. Judy was a blessing and I’m so glad I had the privilege to know her. May your memories and her love that is always with you, see you through till your together again.

I am fortunate and privileged beyond words to have Judy count me as her friend. A sweet, wonderful person who never asked but always gave. The world has lost a beacon of love and light but with her memory that light is still bright.

Judy was such a sweet, caring soul. I never got to meet her in person, but she was always a joy to chat with over the years. Judy and Wolfe came to feel like my own grandparents. Judy will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Aunt Judy will never be forgotten! I have great memories of her and Mom (Audrey) they enjoyed and loved each so dearly. Spending the summers in Greensboro NC before she and Uncle Wolfe moved to Sneads Ferry was some of the best summers ever! Learning about the Lord and seeing how love can be so precious in a Family! She was very Special! Rest Now my Servant you're in hands of the Lord!
