I just found out about Judy’s passing. I knew Judy many many years ago and she was one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She helped train me as a lab tech. Judy you will be truly missed. What a wonderful person and Christian woman. Ivy Medley Cox

We are both so sorry to hear of Judy’s passing. We both worked at SCCH in the late seventies and early eighties with Judy and had some good times. We continued to see Judy over the years when she came in our office. We will surely miss her and her bright smile. May all your memories bring you peace.

I was so shocked to learn of Judy’s passing. I knew Judy from SCCH, and I went to school with her girls.

Judy was a friend from work, church and we enjoyed many visits together with her sister Paige. She always had a smile, encouraging words and shared many kind deeds over the years. She served God in many aspects of her Christian life, I am sure she will be welcomed home.

Judy's Obituary

MARION, VA

Judy Elizabeth King Henderlite went Home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 20, 2023, at the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA after a brief illness.

Judy was born on February 12, 1951, to the late James and Zelma Green King. She is also preceded in death by a brother Randy King. Judy retired as a Lab Technician from Smyth County Community Hospital after 36 years of service. She enjoyed her arts and crafts, making quilts, and crocheting. She was devoted to taking care of her family and sharing the quilts she made. Judy loved to travel. Over the years, she visited all 50 states, Thailand, Belize, Canada, and the Bahamas. She was a devout Christian who truly exemplified what a godly woman should be. Judy was a faithful member at South Fork Baptist Church. She loved her church and church family and was involved in numerous activities throughout the years. Judy’s most cherished and loved memories was all the times she was able to care for and teach the children at the church.

She is survived by her loving husband Donald Henderlite; special friend Debbie Hager; three children Kimberly Steel & husband Louie, Sherry DeBord & husband Lance, and Donald Henderlite, Jr.; two brothers Jerry King & wife Lynn and Billy Albert & wife Melva; two sisters Paige Bare and Odessa Shupe & husband Sam; 12 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM, Thursday, March 23, 2023, at South Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Mullinax officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM on Thursday at the church. Private interment will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Bradley’s Funeral Home of Marion is serving the Henderlite Family.
