Julie Anne Sweeney

April 17, 1969 ~ January 13, 2026

Age ~ 56

Julie Anne Sweeney (Tiegs) of Harshaw, Wisconsin, unexpectedly slipped quietly into the eternal light to be reunited with the Lord and her loved ones on January 13, 2026.

Julie was born on April 17, 1969, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to proud parents Dennis and Cheryl Tiegs. The family later relocated to Hawkins, Wisconsin, where they welcomed her younger brother, Jason. Julie attended Hawkins Elementary School, where she played shortstop on the Little League team and was active as a Girl Scout. She went on to attend Ladysmith High School, where she loved playing basketball and thrived socially, serving on both the prom and homecoming courts. Julie continued her education at WITC in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, earning a degree in data processing.

While in college, Julie took a chance and wrote a note to a boy—never knowing her life would be forever changed. That boy, Mark Sweeney, became her husband for the next 27 years. Together they welcomed two beautiful children, Alysha and Jacob, whom Julie loved with her whole heart. The family eventually planted roots in Glen Flora, Wisconsin. Julie spent more than 20 years working in the window industry with a company that later became known as JELD-WEN Windows & Doors. Though she stepped away from the industry for a time, she was joyfully drawn back when longtime friends sought her out and offered her an opportunity she graciously accepted.

Julie’s life took unexpected turns that ultimately led her exactly where she was meant to be. In 2021 she met the love of her life, John Houle, and the two became engaged and inseparable. Together they moved into their dream home tucked away in the quiet woods of Harshaw, Wisconsin. Julie felt profoundly blessed—not only by John’s love and support, but also by the beautiful family that came with him. Family was her greatest treasure.

Julie enjoyed many hobbies and interests throughout her life. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, fishing, gardening, being on the lake, gathering with family and friends, talking about spirituality, visiting the family cabin, researching topics that sparked her curiosity, and doting on her beloved dogs. A true Aries, Julie taught Sunday school, held an unwavering faith in the Lord, and had a passion for resale.

Julie is survived by her parents, Dennis and Cheryl Tiegs; her brother, Jason (Marie) Tiegs; her daughter, Alysha Sweeney (Jordan Marsh); her son, Jacob Sweeney; John’s children, Nicole Houle (David Erdmann) and Renee (Jeremy) Edson; her precious grandchildren: Cian, Avery, Maisyn, Rory, Addysen, Lucille, Emmy, and Olivia, and her nephews Jayden, Grant; and Sawyer.

She was preceded in death by her loving fiancé, John Houle; and her grandparents, Darryl and Helen Tiegs, and John P. and LaVerne Kaiser.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hawkins Bethel Lutheran Church located at 915 Main Street, on February 7, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Hailey Halmstad will officiate. A luncheon will follow at Tom’s Way To Go, 804 Main Street, Hawkins.
