Julie Janette Tornabene was born August 5th, 1979 to parents Leonard and Marie Tornabene. Julie grew up in the city of Chicago with her two siblings, Chrissy and Vince. She enjoyed her childhood playing with friends in the neighborhood and bonding with her family members, such as spending time at her Grandma and Grandpa Tornabene’s candy store. She loved animals and always had them in the house, most famously her German Shepard, Samantha who she talked about all the time. Julie was diagnosed as a child with Crohn's disease, and despite the challenges she faced, she remained strong and determined to live life to fullest and not let her diagnoses bring her down.
Julie has two children, her eldest, Isabella Principe born in 2000 (Gage Diel), and her youngest, Victoria Principe born in 2005. She called them “my girls”, and loved them with all her heart. She met her husband, Eric Olearczyk, originally when they were in grade school in Chicago, and in 2017, they married and have lived in Niles for the past 12 years. They have been in love ever since.
In her free time, Julie could be seen making extravagant crafts or desserts, sitting in the sun and enjoying the outside, visiting her family during holidays and events, going on adventures with her sister Chrissy, and doing beauty rituals with her daughters. Julie also loved Wonder Woman because of what she stood for. In Many ways Julie embodied Wonder Woman’s Spirit; strong, brave, and persistent.
In May of 2024, Julie was diagnosed with late stage pancreatic cancer. From that day, she fought each and every moment with all her might to live for herself, her family, and her children. She underwent chemo treatments, doctor’s appointments, highs and lows, all the while keeping her signature sarcasm. As the cancer progressed, it spread to many parts of her body. She chose to fight for her life until the very end. Julie was and is loved by so many and she will be missed dearly. Julie is survived by her husband Eric Olearczyk, her daughters, Isabella Principe-Diel (Gage Diel) and Victoria Principe, her parents, Leonard Tornabene and Marie Tornabene, her siblings, Christina Matuschka (Mark Matuschka) and Vincent Tornabene (Guadalupe Tornabene), and her nieces and nephews, Karina Tornabene, Herlinda Tornabene, Mason Matuschka, and Miles Matuschka.
Anytime anyone who knows Julie sees the color purple, eats green olives, laughs in situations they shouldn’t, we will think of Julie and the forever impact she has had on everyone she has met.
Visitation will be at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home 7812 N. Milwaukee Avenue Niles on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral TUESDAY 10:15 AM to St. John Brebeuf Church Mass 11:00 AM. Services will conclude after church. (Please note, there are no services Monday) Funeral info: 847-966-7302.

Julie,
Although we didn’t see each other much in recent years I’ll always remember the fun times and happy memories we had while raising our kids. I will always cherish those memories. I have so many pictures of us and plan to pass them onto your girls. I’m so grateful that Jade and I were able to stay close to Bella and Victoria all of these years and my family and I love them very much. You gave them the tools to be strong, independent women and I am so proud of both of them. Julie, I’m so sorry you had to go through what you did and at such a young age. I will always remember you and I’m so grateful we were able to spend all of those years getting to know each other and making happy memories.
Love,
Jessica

Our grandson, Gage Diel and Bella were married last Aug. 3rd, 2024. Sweet Bella just fit so perfectly into our family and Gage adores her. It's was heartwarming to see our grandson so very happy. At Christmas, we got to meet and spend an evening with Julie. It was a fun celebration of family togetherness. Julie was a beautiful, fun and loving lady. The love for her children just radiated a glow in the room. So beautiful she was. Although she was ill, she did not show the battle she was going through. One tough lady. To give her a soft hug was priceless. We are heartbroken over her passing and praying for her whole family, that God will send them comfort and keeping her always in our hearts and prayers. You will always be missed, but never forgotten by our whole family. We love you Julie and Gage will always take care and love your daughter. You are a beautiful angel!!

Mom I miss you so much. I don’t know what I am going to do without you. However, I know what you’ve taught me will get me through anything else life throws at me. I will watch over Victoria and protect her for as long as I live. You loved how close we are to each other and I will be the best big sister I can be. I love you so much and while I grieve I also am at peace because I know you are no longer suffering and are in a better place. You didn’t deserve this and each battle you have faced has prepared you for your time to flourish and be free whenever you are up there. I miss you and I love you forever. I will tell everyone I meet about you and how they missed out since they never met you. I will think of you each day and remember the good times we’ve had. I will strive to be half as strong as you are. I love you. I am glad I got to tell you how much you mean to me in your last moments. I’m sorry you went through this but happy that you are at peace. I will see you again. I miss you.

I sort of knew you from afar, as my church and I were afforded an opportunity to pray for you. You were an inspiration to us, and one day we will meet you in person. What a wonderful day that will be!!

Although I’ve never met Julie, I feel like I knew her through the many wonderful stories shared with us by her Uncle Joe at St Anne Catholic Church.
I once read: “You can’t wait for the perfect moment. You can only do your best to make the moment perfect.” I believe Julie did that - for herself and for others.
May she finally REST in PEACE
