Karen Rich, 61, of Rockfall, beloved wife of Marc Gadoury, died Monday March 9 ,2026. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Griffin) Rich.
Karen devoted much of her life to her two daughters. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, volleyball, cooking, baking, sewing, and many arts and crafts. Karen also had a deep love for wildlife—she never met an animal she couldn’t befriend or try to heal.
She loved working at Lyman Orchards, where she met her husband, Marc, and formed many friendships with people she considered family. Karen had a generous heart and treated her daughters’ friends like her own children, often welcoming them into her home and making sure no one left hungry.
Karen is survived by her husband, Marc, and her daughters, Kayla Treat and Tabitha Spokas. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Jr. (“Kenny”), her mother, Mary, and her father, Kenneth Sr
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 15th form 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown.

I am so sorry that I was unable to attend the memorial services yesterday for Karen. I really want you to know how imporetant she was to us. It was our good fortune to have Karen enter our lives when my husband, Dr. Felix Sheehan, retired from practice for medical reasons. Since I was still working I needed help during the day with his care and I began the search for an aide. The agency I called suggested Karen and it sounded like she would be a good fit for us. From the moment she walked into our home her presence was felt in the best of ways. She could not have been more caring and attentive with whatever he needed. She was more than an aide. She immediately became a friend and fit into our daily routine like a glove. If he was napping and I told her to take a break she would just smile at me, open a book and sit at his side should he awake and need anything. She knit him a lap robe to keep him warm if she took him out for air. She expressed an interest in nursing and they had long discussions about the medical fiend. Almost immediately she became 'family" and we shared stories about Mark, Kala and Tabeta, her loving family and our (many) children and relatives. There was simply nothing she would not do to make him comfortable and fill the time. She felt his passing as deeply as we did. We kept in touch after he passed. She was one of the first to pay respects. The last time I saw her we had lunch at the Athenian Diner together and caught up. I am sure you will miss her but you can keep her close in your hearts and minds. Please accept my deepest sympathy for her loss. Know that she will still walk among us. Rest in peace lovely Karen.

Oh how I will miss you my best friend/sister. Even though we have had so many miles between us for the past 40+ years, I will always consider you my bestie/sister. I am so glad I got to see you when I was in CT and we got to catch up and I got to meet Marc. Always will remember our endless days and nights at the skating rink, Jerry’s pizza and endless talks. Our hike through wadsworth park and so many memories with both you and Kenny. Now you are at peace and with your family again. May you rest eternally in peace. I love you and will always cherish our memories. To Marc, thank you for loving my bestie and for bringing her lots of love and joy. My heart goes out to you. To her daughters, always know your mom loved you very much and she will be watching over you always.
RIP sis

My sincere condolences to Karen's family. She was a kind and gentle person. I have fond memories of seeing her and Kenny on Spencer Drive as a child when I was visiting the Blumbergs. It was always nice to see her when out running errands. I'm so sorry for your loss.
