Karl & June Fiske Obituary
Interment rites for Karl and June Fiske will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 26. Pastor Mark Taylor will officiate at the service at the Outlook Cemetery; the service will include military honors for Mr. Fiske, a Wolrd War II and Korean veteran. A gathering at the Outlook Community center will follow the service at the cemetery.
Karl Fiske
Karl Alvin Fiske, Sr. passed away at Grand Park in Billings, MT February 26, 2015. He was born July 1, 1921 on the family homestead near Outlook, MT to Anna and Olai Fiske. He graduated from Outlook and attended the University of Montana for his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He walked on to play football for the Grizzlies and was an avid Griz supporter. Karl married his high school sweetheart, June Marshall, June 17, 1944 in South Carolina before he shipped overseas. He served with the 87th Infantry Division and was taken prisoner at Bonnarue, Belgium while counterattacking "the Bulge". He was recalled to serve in the Korean Conflict with the 24th Infantry Division. He taught Math and coached in Medicine Lake, Chinook and Laurel and returned to Medicine Lake as Superintendent until his retirement. He was active in many organizations including the Montana High School Association (acting as Chairman at one point), the Elks, Eastern Star, Masons and Shriners. Karl was preceded in death by his wife June, his parents and his brother Ole.
June Fiske
Margaret June Fiske passed away at Grand Park in Billings, MT August 25, 2014 with family by her side. She was born to Inez and David Marshall in Minnesota July 2, 1924. After her father's death she moved to Montana with her mother and brother and grew up on a farm in the Outlook area. She married her high school sweetheart, Karl Fiske, June 17, 1944 in South Carolina where Karl was training to ship overseas. June loved people and was active in many organizations including Eastern Star, Rainbow, as Mother Advisor, Laurel Women's Club, and many others. She was a consummate crafter and delighted in creating something from her stash of treasures. June was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Marshall.
They are survived by their children Karl Fiske, Jr. (Shary) and Peggy Smith (Gene), 3 Grandchildren, Karren Gantt, Ole Fiske (Wendy), and Andrew Smith (Angie), four great-grandchildren; Jordan Gantt, Soren Fiske, Kaylee Smith, and Kyree Smith. June is also survived by her half-brother, Franklin Lund.
The family wishes to thank Grand Park for the loving care that Karl and June received while in residence.
