Katherine Kinley Obituary


Katherine Elizabeth Kinley (nee Carlson) died January 15, 2019 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. She was born in Toledo, OH November 8, 1925. She is survived by her husband, John A. Kinley, with whom she recently celebrated 72 years of marital happiness. Also surviving are three sons: John (Trish) of Crossville, AL; Stephen (Sandra) of Lake Orion, MI and Todd (Tammy) of Novelty, OH: 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, her sister, Dr. Dosia Carlson and brother, Rev. Robert A. Carlson. Her daughter, Karen Elizabeth Wilkinson (Jay) predeceased her. She attended Toledo schools, the University of Michigan, The University of Toledo, and Baldwin Wallace University. The Kinley family lived in Oberlin, Novelty and Aurora, OH, Willow Run, Detroit and Farmington, MI. Katherine was a lifetime member of PEO , founder of The Valley Parson Christian book store, Geauga county coordinator for AFS student exchange and supervised World Book encyclopedia sales for Geauga County. Her love of dancing led to her founding ARISE Dancers, a liturgical dance group performing in northeast Ohio. Her unceasing church activities included forming care team programs, establishing missionbased women’s circles and expanding the VOA Food Bank operations in Aurora. Private burial services will be held in Russell Cemetery, Fairmount Rd. , Novelty, OH. A Memorial Service is being planned for the near future. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer Fund, The Federated Church of Chagrin Falls or Crossroads Hospice.
