Kathleen Huhtala Obituary
Kathleen Huhtala, age 85 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Marquette General Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1929 in L’Anse, MI daughter of Arthur “Babe” and Mary (Coskie) Denomme. Kathleen graduated from L’Anse High School in 1947. She married Roland Huhtala Sr. on August 28, 1948 in L’Anse. Kathleen raised her family and then worked as a cook and hostess at the Hilltop Restaurant in L’Anse.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and St. Rita’s Circle. Kathleen enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards.
She is survived by children, Barbara (Roger) Jahfetson of Baraga, Roland Huhtala, Jr. of L’Anse, Linda (Dale) Hutula of Watton and Mary (Roger) St. Andre of L’Anse; grandchildren, Roger (Heather) Jahfetson, Steve (Dawn) Jahfetson, Brad Hutula, and Betsy Hutula; great-grandchildren, Kodi, Kooper, Kinsei, Sammi, Alex, Marti and Cori, Dani, Izibella, and Arianna; sisters Audrey Godell of Stanton, MI and Vivian (Garland) Davis of L’Anse.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Roland; and sister Lorraine Coleman.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 12 noon at Jacobson Funeral Home with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery. The grandchildren and son’s-in-law will serve as pallbearers. A luncheon will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

I became to know Kathleen through my job at Bayview Family Practice. She was always a "bright" spot in my day. A lovely lady with a big smile and a kind word. May she rest in peace.

Many years ago, Kathleen was a regular customer at my Mom's beauty shop. She had to have been one of Mom's favorites because she often shared her stories with us. May they be together sharing stories again. Much sympathy to your entire family.
