Kathleen “Kathy” Pravato (Diffin), age 80, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, surrounded by her family, in Coconut Creek, Florida.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Kathy spent many years raising her family in Staten Island, a place that always held a special place in her heart. She and her beloved husband were longtime snowbirds, dividing their time between New York and Florida before settling in Florida full-time ten years ago.
Kathy was married to the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Pravato, for 60 years. Their marriage was a true partnership built on love, devotion, and family. Kathy’s family was the center of her world, and nothing brought her more joy than having everyone together.
She is survived by her devoted husband Tony; her children Christie Pravato, Toniann (Alfie) Payne, Kathleen (Pete) Vitale, and Anthony Pravato, her cherished grandchildren Caitlin, Paul, Peter, Nicholas, Tori, Sophia, Franki, and AJ; her lifelong best friends: Mary Bruno, Roe Potenza and Ronnie Caggiano as well as many other dear friends throughout her life.
Kathy was known for her warm and welcoming spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel like family. Her home was always the gathering place—the spot where family and friends felt comfortable, loved, and at home. She opened her doors and her heart to everyone, and her kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Kathy will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her generosity, and the sense of togetherness she created wherever she was. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

It’s hard to find the right words for someone who meant so much. My beautiful Grammie was truly one of a kind and she was loved by all who knew her.
I am so grateful for the 26 years of memories that we shared together. I will miss our shopping trips, card games, and late nights binge-watching game shows/soap-operas for hours. Those moments, filled with laughter and love, will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing your love will always be with us and that you are no longer suffering. It’s not goodbye, it’s a see you later
