Aunt Kathleen, there were so many things you did that made me feel important. One time in particular was my 16th birthday. Being one year older than me, Marsha and Debbie and I think Robyn too, either just had or were going to have a "Micky Mouse 16th Birthday party" together. So, the next year when I turned 16, you called me to come over to your house. I don't recall who came with me, but when we got there, you had baked me a "Strawberry Short Cake" Character cake. You decided that "characters" were the thing that teenagers were doing after the girls had their party, and you wanted to make sure I had one too! If I'm not mistaken, you made Lawrence and Amber come sing happy birthday to me. I remember Lawrence's "what are we doing now" face and I remember Amber always being by no more than an arm's reach away from her Ninny. I wish I remembered exactly how it went, but I only remember the overwhelming feeling of, Wow, my Aunt REALLY loves me! Every time I saw you, you truly made me feel like you had been waiting expectantly for me and that I was treasured. It didn't matter if I just saw you last Saturday or didn't see you for two years you were EAGER to sit with me and talk. I love you!
