Kenneth Odell Liermann, known affectionately as Ken or Kenny, was born on September 21, 1951, in Orange, California. He was the eldest of seven children to Harry and Margaret Liermann and grew up in Tustin, CA, where he attended local elementary and middle schools before graduating from Fallbrook High School in 1969.
Ken proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1973, spending time stationed overseas in Germany. After returning home, he built a full and memorable life in Fallbrook, CA.
He married MaryMae Parkinson on September 6, 1980. They raised their 3 kids, Donna, Justin, and Daniel in Mary's childhood home on Fallbrook Street - if you've been in town for a while, I'm sure you know exactly which house it is! If not, you've likely seen him around town with his pup Junior. There's few places in Fallbrook that you'll find someone that doesn't know, or at least recognize, Kenny.
He first worked as a landscaper for Ed Amon and later delivered newspapers for the Union Tribune and Blade Tribune, a job he and his wife Mary shared, faithfully delivering papers and “killing” cars along the way! Ken later served as a civil servant at Camp Pendleton, where he worked for the Marine Corps Community Services Landscaping Division. He spent 28 years there as a supervisor, committed to his work and choosing it over early retirement.
Ken had many talents and interests. He was skilled in automotive repair, a talented artist, and an avid collector of both new and old treasures. He was known for his humor, sharp witt, organizational skills, dedication, and deep love for his family.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, MaryMae Parkinson Liermann; his sons, Justin and Daniel Liermann; and his brother, Brad Liermann.
He is survived by his siblings: Frances Wright of Pacifica, CA; Keith Liermann of Bouse, AZ; Kitty Liermann of Fallbrook, CA; Claudia Liermann Pannell of Murrieta, CA; and Grant Liermann of Winchester, CA. He is also survived by his daughter, Donna Marie Anthony Weidenhaupt of Eckert, CO, and grandson, Trevor Morel of Eckert, CO.
A memorial service will be held on September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary, 333 N. Vine St., Fallbrook, CA 92028. Military honors and burial will follow at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery, 1177 Santa Margarita Drive, Fallbrook, CA. A reception will take place after the burial at Live Oak Park, 2746 Reche Road, Fallbrook, CA.
Kenny will be remembered as a hardworking man who found purpose in service and whose dedication and humor touched the lives of many.

Kenny left his mark on so many just by being the wonderful man, husband, father, fur baby daddy, uncle, friend and coworker he was.

Who was Kenny? Simply put: an awesome human being. He will be missed by his family and friends to be sure. By no one one more than his best friend Junior. Occasionally, Ken would bring him to the shop on Camp Pendleton. The best landscaping mascot one could have! All of us at MCCS & Logistics will struggle mightily through the next days, weeks and months to come. Anytime someone cracks open a can of energy drink or snacks on a candy bar, Kenny will come to mind. In fact, the only time Kenny was seen eating “real food” was at company appreciation parties and potluck birthdays :) I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘Monster Energy’ stock takes a dip because Kenny’s zest for their potion has come to an end!
Kenny also loved to listen to podcasts and had an amazing memory for historical details - he was a live version of Google I swear! He was soft spoken and never raised his voice. And let me tell you, a lit of dumb stuff happened on base! He was always the teacher. And if you needed advice, he had loads to offer. If you needed someone to listen, he never interrupted or judged. So if you ever wondered who the guy with the big mustache, ball cap, sunglasses and smoldering cigarette guy was . now you know. Of course, the surface of his life is barely scratched in these few words. Kenny was just a really good dude and we will miss him terribly. One last thought: now that he is no longer ‘chained to a desk’ or in a meeting ‘down the hill’, I suspect he will keep an eye or two on the rest of us left behind. So here’s to you Kenny - we raise our can of Monster and celebrate the time we had with you - cheers!!!!
