KERI RAE DUNBAR, 61, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, went to Heaven on Friday, November 7, 2025, after suffering a fast-growing cancer found on her breathing tube. She went peacefully and spoke of how she was ready to go home to God.
Keri is the daughter of Jim and Darlene Dunbar and was born April 9, 1964, in Ames, Iowa. She was a cute and spunky blonde haired blue eyed little girl who loved riding her bike, swim, fish, and play with friends. She attended the United Methodist Church in Hubbard with her family. She was a fun and sweet girl who loved her family and had a huge heart that everyone could see.
She and her family moved to Clear Lake, Iowa and after high school, she got married, and had 2 children, Cody James and Cayla Rae. A few years ago, she moved to New Mexico to be close with her daughter and grandchildren. It was then that she was able to spend wonderful days with her loving daughter shopping and having her grandchildren over for sleepovers. Her daughter and grandchildren brought her a lot of happiness, and it’s with them she found profound peace.
Keri was preceded in death by her parents, James Dunbar and Darlene (Weiland) Dunbar and her niece, Emily Marquard.
She is survived by her children, Cayla Hillman, Cody Dunbar, 8 grandchildren, Zoie, Serenitti, Ezekial, Heather, Axel and Nova-Rayne Brunning & James and Joey Dunbar, her sister, Mari Marquard, stepmom, Dee Dunbar, 2 nieces, Nicole Sechelski and Megan Essary, great nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

I had the pleasure of working with Keri. During that time we got very close. She's a sweet spirited woman. Her family was her life. She loved her grandchildren deeply. They brought her so much joy ! I was sad when she called me to tell me she was moving. Yet it made perfect sense. She wanted to be closer to her loved ones. My deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time. I will continue to pray for all of you.
Sincerely,
Regina White

So sorry for everyone. She was too young to be taken but we don’t get to decide these things. Thinking of you all.

Spunky blonde, blue eyed girl....that's my sweetest memory of you, Keri. And following your sister and I around when I'm certain we were annoyed by it. Keri, you always had a good heart through some hard days. I'm so happy these last years were spent with your family. I know you must have been such a proud grandma.
Praying over them all. I'll hug you in heaven one day!
