Kyle E. Slater, 45, of Kansas City, MO, passed away suddenly on June 14, 2021. The recitation of the Rosary will take place at 6:00 pm on Monday, June 21, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, KCMO, followed by visitation until 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 10:30 am.
Kyle went to elementary school at St. Elizabeth School. He graduated from Rockhurst High School, and he received an associate degree from Longview Community College in the automotive department. He was a mechanic by trade and loved working on cars. He was an Eagle Scout at St. Elizabeth Church and served as an assistant leader after high school.
Kyle was son of Bob and Joyce Slater and husband of Dawn Slater.
Kyle, who was also known as Smile or Grandpa Kyle, loved his family. He was proud to be a grandpa. He and his oldest grandchild, Romeo, spent a lot of time together playing games on Xbox and going fishing. Fishing was a great love of his. Every chance he got he went fishing. For 35 years he and his parents and often his grandchildren traveled across the state of Missouri to Montauk State Park to meet up with a favorite fishing buddy, Matt Politte and his family. Kyle found joy and peace in fishing. This year at least fifty trout will not be hooked in the current river.
Kyle was close to his parents and his grandparents, his sister, Andrea, his nephews Gabe and Michael and all his aunts and uncles and cousins. His Aunt Maggie was like a second mother to him. Kyle and his sister Andrea spent a lot of time with Maggie at the Lake of the Ozarks boating and fishing and tubing. By many, he will be remembered as the towheaded little boy who brought happiness with his smile.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dorothy and Andrew Johnson and Ruth Slater, all of whom he loved dearly; his godfather, Leonard Harbrucker; his uncle, Jim Slater, his dog, Jove.
He leaves behind his parents, Robert and Joyce Slater; his sister, Andrea Bezek (William Bezek); wife, Dawn Slater, children, Khristopher, Allyssa and Alexis; grandchildren, Romeo, Angelo, Mareyo, Arken and Maxton; nephews, Alexander (Kitty), Gabriel and Michael; aunts and uncles, BJ, Margaret(Bill), Donna (Chris), Gloria (Sharon), John (Linda) and Nancy: cousins, Megan (Alex), Jennie (Marc), Khalid, Kyan (Mark), Jason, Andrea, Jessica (Jeff), Danielle (Sam).

I regret my lack of timely response, but my heart is broken. My deepest condolences. Kyle was a brilliant ray of sunshine in life. He brought warmth and happiness with his presence. And my memories of working with him, teasing him...will continue to bring light to what otherwise would have been a darkened corner in my heart and mind.
