Mr. Ernest Lane Haigler, 70, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Novant Health in Matthews. Born March 1, 1953, in Union County, he was a son of the late Ajar Clay Haigler and Effie Melinda Tomberlin Faulk. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Willard Clay Haigler, Dennis Ray Haigler, Renelda Jane Baker and Edward Lewis Haigler.
Lane loved people and never met a stranger. His family meant the world to him, and he was so proud of each of his kids and grandkids. Being PawPaw was one of his greatest joys. He worked at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry for over 40 years where he was a manager in the mixing department. Lane was an avid golfer and used it as an opportunity to reach out to people. He could cook the best steak in town and was always ready to grill for family and friends. After retirement you could find Lane and Kay farming together. Lane would bale hay for people all over the county and he found great joy in meeting and working with all the people that came across his path.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Lane will be 11 AM, Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Philadelphia Baptist Church. The burial will be private. Rev. Caroll Anthony will officiate the service. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Sanctuary.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years, Kay Autry Haigler; children, Valerie Kay Weaver (Dale), Veronica Lane Freytag (Richard), and Ernest Scott Haigler (Kelly); grandchildren, Luke (Crystal) and Hannah Freytag, Rebeka Weaver, Kathryn Weaver Medina-Artis (Marcus), Joshua, Ethan, Jesse and Eli Haigler; great grandchildren, Levi Carpenter and Maverick Freytag; brother, Terry Joe Haigler (Tammy).
Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Haigler.

Dearest Kay and family,
Such wonderful memories of your whole family! While I hadn't seen Lane in a long time I remember how devoted he was to his family and he always had a smile and kind word to share. Praying each of you feel God's presence and peace as you hold tight in your hearts those wonderful memories until you see him again one day. Love in Christ!

Kay and family, Steven just shared this with me after seeing the post on Facebook. Neil, Steven and I are so sad to hear of Lane’s passing. I still have memories of the time you and I spent the long hours at Atrium Charlotte when both Gary and Lane were there for so many days. Prayers for you and all the rest of the family. ❤
