LaRaine Pearl (Overla) Duchon, a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 24, 2026, in Manistee, Michigan, surrounded by her loved ones, at the age of 79.
She was born on November 3, 1946, in Frankfort, Michigan, to Earl and Waneta (Dorn) Overla.
LaRaine was devoted to her husband, Lawrence Duchon, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage. Their life together was a testament to love, partnership, and cherished memories. They enjoyed traveling out west, taking cruises, playing bingo, and creating countless memories during their retirement years.
LaRaine lived a life centered around love, family, and togetherness. Her family meant everything to her, and she took immense pride in each generation. She especially adored her grandchildren and held a deep, special love for her great-grandbabies, who brought her endless joy.
She loved watching any sporting event, but nothing compared to cheering on her own children and grandchildren. Whether from the stands or the living room, she was always their biggest supporter. She also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—watching beautiful sunsets, enjoying a lively game of bingo, and sharing moments of laughter with those around her.
Always good for a hug, LaRaine offered comfort, warmth, and reassurance to anyone who needed it. Her kindness, love, and welcoming spirit touched countless lives. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
She is survived by her husband; her children, Joseph and Trina Edmondson, Jacob and LeAnne Bialik, and Tod and Tina Miller; her grandchildren, Amber Edmondson, Joey Edmondson, Ryan and Caitlin Moore, Jacob and Kendra Chontos, Justin and Savannah Edmondson, Zack and Lindsie Bialik, Alex and Emma Bialik, Cameron and MacKenzie Smith, Kody Poirier, and Mariah Bialik; and her great-grandbabies, Quinn, Jersie, Addyson, Jagger and baby Chontos; siblings, Patricia Faubert, Nancy (Evert Best) Overla, Jim (Cindy) Overla, Ken (Connie) Overla, Joni Markiewicz, Shari (Bryan) Groenwald, Sally Overla, Deb Overla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Russell Overla, Wayne Overla, Gary “Jack” Overla, James Faubert, Suzanne Burden; and her grandsons, Chance Lawrence Bialik and Cory Michael Bialik.
A celebration of life service will be held on January 31, 2026, at Herbert’s Funeral Home in Manistee, Michigan, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow at Manistee Senior Center, 260 St. Mary’s Parkway.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to Manistee High School 350 Club Athletic Boosters, 525 12th Street, Manistee, MI 49660, in LaRaine’s name.
She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
