Laverne Hadnot Limbrick was born on September 1, 1955, in Newton County, Texas, to the late Redell Hadnot and Mildred Hadnot. Laverne attended elementary, middle, and high school in Jasper, Texas, where she graduated from Jasper High School in 1973. Laverne pursued her bachelor’s degree and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Stephen F. Austin University in 1978. She was an Educator teaching at school districts in Dallas, Jasper, Houston, and the Baytown area for over 30 years until retirement.
Laverne had a passionate love for Jesus Christ. Approximately four years ago, she united with Bethel Bible Ministries Church located in Beaumont, Texas, where Reverend Curtis B. Alexander is pastor. She was an active participant in Bible study and Friday Prayer for the Nation. She and Johnny participated in Sunday morning worship via teleconference call. She often prayed, read scripture, and sang Zion songs of praise to her Lord.
She married Johnny B. Limbrick on August 8, 1980. In this union, Laverne was blessed with a blended family of six children: Signora, Susan, Rachel, Johnny Dewayne, Hyron, and Jarvis, whom she loved dearly. In 1977, she gave birth to her firstborn, Johnathan, and she later gave birth to their daughter Estacia. “Our mom was an Angel.”
On September 20, 2025, she went home to meet the One she loved the most, Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Redell and Mildred. She will be truly missed, and her memories will always be cherished by her husband, Johnny B. Limbrick; children, Jonathan Limbrick (Sherri), Estacia, Johnny Dwayne, Signora, Susan, and Rachel; bonus children, Russell Limbrick and Curtis Brumley; brothers-in-law, Elmo Limbrick (Shirley) of Pasadena, TX, and Roy Limbrick (Patricia) of Humble, TX; three special grandchildren whom she raised, Jakiece, Jalijhan, and Faith; as well as all her other precious grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

I am just now reading my email. I am saddened to hear the news of Laverne's passing. I remember her from SFA as energetic, fun to be around, athletic, competent, and smart. I will say good bye until we meet again.
