LaVonne E. (Hahn) Grote, 87 of Mount Pleasant (formerly of Scottdale) passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in The Villages of Harmon House Assisted Living Center, Mount Pleasant. LaVonne was born on February 5, 1938, in New Auburn, MN, a daughter of the late Otto and Mildred (Bierman) Hahn. She was married to Fred H. Grote, who passed away on December 17, 2017.
LaVonne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Gaylord High School in Gaylord, Minnesota and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Scottdale. LaVonne also worked as a waitress at Wise’s Restaurant in Scottdale for over 20 years.
LaVonne will be sadly missed by her loving family; her children, Darcy Vallejos, Albuquerque, NM, Michael Grote and wife Deb of Madelia, MN, Sarah Martin and husband Neil of Waldorf, MD, David Grote and wife Annette of Middleton, TN, Nancy Uber and husband Lloyd of Scottdale, and Fred W. Grote and wife Sherry of Connellsville;
Her Grandchildren: Brandon, Jennifer, Rachel, Katie, Richard, Angelica, Elizabeth, Madeline, and Emily
20 Great Grandchildren
Her sisters: Marlys Koch, Patricia Hahn
Her brother: Robert (Judy) Hahn
And numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: her sisters Eileen Olson and Janice Esch and her daughter-in-law, Karen Grote (1999).
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 SPRING STREET, SCOTTDALE (www.fergusonfunerals.com). At LaVonne’s request, there will be no viewing. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to: Westmoreland County Blind Association, 911 S. Main St., Greensburg, PA 15601 or a charity of your choice. Love Lasts Forever!
