Lawrence (Larry) E. Ottofaro, 94, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 14, 1931, he had been a long-time resident of Newport News. Larry served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was discharged in 1955. He later completed an apprenticeship of 6 years at the trade of Printer and worked for the Daily Press. Larry’s life revolved around his family ensuring they were always well cared for and secure. He set a lifelong example for his children through his commitment not only to his immediate family but also to his parents.
Preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Mary Rosso Ottofaro; his wife of 68 years, Moira Ottofaro; daughter, Denise Thomas Ottofaro; and brother, George V. Ottofaro. He leaves to cherish his memory, son, Lawrence A. Ottofaro (Marilyn); son, Jack V. Ottofaro (Trish); grandchildren, Trevor Ottofaro (Kelli), Amanda Edwards (Wyatt), and Colin Ottofaro (Alexis); great-grandchildren, Ava and Olivia; sister, Antoinette Cook; cousin and good friend Joe Rosso; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA.
